Recently sailed to Bermuda on the Summit for my 60th birthday celebration! We were a party of fourteen, six of them children. Having never sailed out of Bayonne, N.J. it was a welcomed change from having to travel to N.Y. for embarkation. The facilities were clean and bright, and the process went smoothly. We were through and on the ship in about forty- five minutes. The Summit, while an older and smaller ship; was impeccably clean and the crew pleasant and professional. Our room attendant Jesus was the best! He helped my daughters decorate my cabin inside and out, and paid special attention to the children. Anything we needed/requested was immediately taken care of and the rooms (five in all) were spotless! Our waiter Maynor did an excellent job providing dinner for all of us nightly. (no easy task!) While the food was good with plenty of options, it was not over the top. However, the wait staff made the dining experience pleasant each evening with their professionalism and attentive service. The evening entertainment was alright. The dance troupe did a nice job but were not as polished as the troupes I've seem on other cruises. We did enjoy the comedians and especially the magic show. Captain Alex was visibly present and so personable-something I had never experienced from the captain on my four previous cruises. The kids club seemed a bit chaotic. Only my (almost) five year old grandson took advantage of it a few times. While the kids loved the pool, it was often very crowded. It would have been nice to have a pool area for the littler ones. Not sure where they'd put it, but I think it would help relieve some of the problems voiced by adults with children playing in the pool, and offer an option for the under three crowd currently not allowed in the onboard pool. When we arrived in Bermuda we enjoyed a view of the Dockyard and all its "goings on" from our veranda. The excursion options were many, however we took only one-the glass bottom boat tour. Sailing from the Dockyard was convenient and the boat crew personable and informative. The rest of our time in port we traveled around Bermuda on our own, using the bus and ferry system. Patience is the the key to a pleasant time in Bermuda, and well worth it for the beautiful scenery and warm and welcoming island atmosphere

We had only a few concerns. The cabin refrigerators were not cold. My daughter had milk in hers for the children and it curdled. While nice to have, if they do not work properly... Also, highchairs were difficult to come by and usually broken. My biggest complaint had nothing to do with the cruise line, rather some of the guests sailing on the ship. We were all on vacation, trying to relax and enjoy the time away. Witnessing adults yelling at crew members and each other, pushing past slower guests (often older), forcing their way into buffet lines, saving multiple lounge chairs no one ever came to use, refusing to move over forcing oncoming pedestrians to walk in the street...was disturbing. People are often quick to criticize the children; and while there were times when crying and fussy kids should have been dealt with; it was most often adults who needed a "timeout"

Overall, we really enjoyed our time on the Summit! Thank you Captain Alex and crew for a birthday vacation we will never forget! Hope to see you again soon!!!

Cabin Review

Concierge Class 3

Cabin C3

The cabin was nicely appointed, with many amenities. It was kept spotless by our cabin attendant Jesus. While not a lot of room to move around, we never felt crowded. Our only complaint was the refrigerator as it was never cold enough to keep anything even cool. This was not just specific to our cabin, but the other four cabin refrigerators in our party. Really enjoyed the concierge class and the benefits that came with it, The afternoon canapes could use some improvement as some of the combinations didn't go together or hold up well. Perhaps just cheese and fruit would be a better option and more appreciated?
