I haven't been on a cruise in a long time. Took one and really didn't like it but people said they love cruising and convinced me that things were so much better now. NO, They are NOT. The Ruby Princess is an old ship. Princess Cruise Line will not take the ship out of service and repairs/updates are done while passengers are onboard and cruising. Honestly though, nothing would really make this ship better. It's just OLD and outdated. One day there was no running water for two hours. Two out of four elevators were out of service for a good portion of the cruise. They even asked if we would mind if they changed the carpet in our stateroom while we were in it. Food was mediocre at best. There is just no way to prepare food for 4000 people and have it not taste like cafeteria food. At times, desserts were even still frozen. There was always a battle to find a seat after standing in line at the buffets. We tried various times and various meals with always the same problem. Several times we took our food back to our stateroom because there was no place to sit. Specialty Restaurants weren't bad but they weren't great either. They were definitely a step up from the buffets or any food service that you didn't pay extra for. But they still weren't great and we had to make reservations for times that we normally wouldn't dine if we wanted to eat a semi-decent meal that day. The entertainment was worst than the worst high school production. And just about every place you went was a battle for a seat/table. We cruised Alaska. Glacier Bay National Park was beautiful. Mendenhall Glacier was a wonderful sight. But Skagway and Ketchikan were complete tourist traps and wastes of time and money. If you were at a hotel you didn't like you could always change hotels. Not so on a cruise. In a nut shell, the ship was a wreck, the itinerary was bad, entertainment was awful and food was horrible. I'm not quite sure why anyone would even want to cruise at all. I would rather pick a destination, a great hotel and spend my time and money enjoying myself.

Our cabin was OK. There was much more room than anticipated with a large amount of storage space.
