We have been on Royal Caribbean, thought we'd try Princess, with family of nine.flew from Chicago to Seattle to catch ship, good flight, princess people meet you at airport and show you transfer to hotel, speedy shuttle, bad! Stops at every hotel in Seattle, take a cab. Told by travel agent and Princess we would board ship at 2:00.hotel people said shuttle to ship leaves at11:00ama asked why,we were told we would be having lunch on ship by noon, this was true.embarking very smooth, easier if you have passports.Ship nicer than RC,lounges nicer too, buffet small and busy for lunch on embarkation day,eat before you get on.Saw a whale and seal on first day,pub lunch at Crown Grill very nice, free, breakfasts very good in main dinning .Afternoon tea, very noisy, not elegant, not Harrods of London. JUNEAU Long line to disembark, overcast weather, all hell and most floatplane trip canceled,be aware this can happen.Kids went whale watching and had a ball, even saw bubble feeding, wife and I were going to salmon bake ,but returned to ship to warm up and after a nice glass of wine stayed on board and had a quiet dinner.Tracys crabshack in Juneau still good, but fills up quick,go early. Skagway Mushers camp a must, this also fills up quick, shuttle to base then army truck ride to camp, then dogsled ride and puppies afterword. Also took White pass train,we got lucky,or not and got the loop train, which goes 7miles further, but takes 4hours round trip, too long for the kids.Dinner on ship crab legs very good. Glacier bay Saw otters seals glacier calving, very nice,if you have a balcony stay there, ship rotates, top deck a madhouse, stay in your cabin or we went to the promenade deck and walked from side to side when ship turned,no one there. Ketchican Went on deadliest catch tour ,it fills up fast to,has a great surprise involved, have to go to see it,but you'll never experience it's like.not much time in town We seamed to be docked farthest out most of the time.Food on ship superior to RC all main dinning very good.Dined at Share, and Crown Grill.Share was good, but not for big eaters, kids probably hit buffet afterwards,Crown Grill ok wife had Copper river Saigon,it was excellent,I had steak,on a scale of one to ten it was a 3or4,we're from Chicago and I know a good steak.my opinion on the speality dinning is don't waste your money, main dinning is just as good,if not better.Crown Grill was second formal night, very nice setting except when you have a bozo on each side of you in a tee shirt, sunglasses, because it's blinding in the dinning room, and a baseball cap on,I think it was his dress one, kind of ruins the mood.Princess made little effort to enforce their dress code, like none. Ship needs one quiet lounge,I enjoy piano music but when it's rock amplified, not so much.this get annoying when every lounge is noisy.Vines wine bar very nice, but there is some spill over from the piazza when something is going on. Had ex military get together provided buy ship with a glass of champagne, nice of them.went to lecture by Head Chef and maitre d and then tour of galley very nice and photo opt with them. One last comment the last night dinner when you arrive in Victoria ,your table is gone, your dinning time is also no longer valid,it's all open dinning and starts a half hour earlier. The only notice is a small line on the back of the Princess patter,we could not dine as a family on our last night because of this big!!!!!!!! failure on Princess'es part.at 7:00 no one was there, they put everything else on your bed but this did'nt seem important. In conclusion I've tried to be fair and objective we enjoyed this cruise, and I hope some of this info helps someone.
