First of all, the good points. The ship was spotless, wait staff Shiju and Mariela, and cabin steward Imade were excellent. Emma Nixon was extremely efficient and seemed to be everywhere. Cabin on deck 2 was one of the largest oceanview cabins we have sailed in. Ports of call were very good. That's about as much that can be said about the good bits. Now for the poor bits. Food in the lido was poor. It was very difficult to make up a meal. There was very little vegetables but plenty of meat. Unfortunately it always was Luke warm or cold. This was also the case in the Sunset Dining Room, to the extent that for the first three nights all of our party sent their food back. We complained to the Maitre'd who ignored our complaints for the first two nights. On the third night near to the end of the meal he came over and excused his behaviour stating that he had been in the kitchen trying to sort out our issues. Most of the time we had watched him in the dining room entrance when he was apparently supposed to have been in the kitchen! The fact that we had been ignored until the third night was, I felt appalling behaviour. The issue was not with the wait staff who I believe went above and beyond themselves to get our food promptly, but there seems to be a serious issue in the kitchens. I heard numerous people complain about the cold food. In the lido, the only heat to the food once it had been removed from the hot cupboards, was the lights -totally inadequate! Entertainment in the main theatre was abysmal. Comedy hour was marginally funny but very US based humour. The books in the library seemed to be conspicuous by their absence. I dont know how they had the cheek to call it a library. This was my first cruise with Carnival and will probably be my last. They really need sort out the fundamental food problems and retrain some of their staff in customer care as there was precious little of this from the Maitre'd. Also there was not the push to clean hands prior to eating I the lido or dining rooms as there is on Norweigan or Holland America
