For our first cruise, we looked for criteria to match our dates and style. That criteria was a short cruise to guard against not liking the experience, the ability to have luxury upgrades (room, dining), and dates that would match our schedule. We found all three in this 3-day Bahamas From Miami cruise via Norwegian. This ship, formerly the Pride of Aloha, sailed out of San Francisco. The ship was refurbished in 2004 and became the Sky. We had upgraded our experience to include an aft owner's suite, which provided us with a very spacious room with separate sitting and dining area. The bathroom has a jacuzzi tub and a separate shower. We also had a spacious deck with a table with two chairs and two lounge chairs. The room was neat, clean, and very functional and comfortable. We also had both a concierge and a butler, who took care of us from the time we stepped on board to the time we stepped off. The service could not have been more attentive, polite, and professional. The entertainment was decent. The commediene hired did a different show on two separate nights. The Saturday tour of Nassau for two hours via bus was just the right lenght and enjoyable. We then did the tourist shopping trip down the main street. We had fun, and it was a good day. The Sunday stop was to be on Norwgian's private island called Grand Stirrup Cay. Unfortunately, high winds and seas prevented us from being able to drop anchor and use the tender boats to go ashore. As this was the main reason I was interested in this cruize, it served as a huge dissapointment. I don't hold Norwegian responsible for weather, of course, but the fact this private island has no dock for this large ship means the risk will always be there. Therefore, I would never book this particular criuse again, but would certainly book Norwegian. Finally, the food. We had the dining package that along with our suite, afforded us the ability to use Cagney's Steakhouse for both breakfast and lunch (along with dinner here and at le Bistro). All the food, with one minor exception (wedge salad), was fabulous. Steak, Chilean Sea Bass, Scallaps, Lobster, etc. All perfect.
