Our only previous experience of RCI cruises was a Med trip on Liberty of the Sea which had the wow factor. This cruise was less spectacular - apart from the destinations themselves. The staff were great and worked hard to provide good service but I felt the boat was understaffed and dining room service was haphazard. Food was very good - especially in Giovanni`s when we paid extra for the murder ...
Check in at Harwich and disembarkation from ship very easy and we'll organized. Itinerary for the Baltic great. This was our 8th cruise, first and probably last with Royal Caribbean. Our balcony room was great, largest we have had and cabin steward great. We were a large group with 2 tables for dinner. Large table had great service, small table terrible service. Waiter passed out menus like he ...
This was cruise number 10, all with Royal.
Check in in Harwich was very easy, parking so close to the terminal and the curtesy bus was waiting for us. When we got to the terminal there was no demand for a tip either. If going by train, the train station is next to the hanger wher you check in, no taxi's needed like Southampton.
Although this was the smallest ship, sorry cruise liner, we had ...
It was our 5th cruise with Royal and I was prepared to be WOWed .. Unfortunately the wow factor wasn’t there. Before sailing I got an email from RCCL stating that the gratuities will go up. But I never got an email about prices of drinks going up significantly, the food choices getting much more limited (good example - Park Café – very poor). No, we didn’t go hungry, but it was painful to watch ...
This was our second cruise; the first was with Olsen. We thought the much more modern Brilliance would be better.
Embarkation was reasonably easy and straightforward.
The first night we ate in the Minstrel restaurant; MyTime dining however was a bit fraught, and we had a job to get seats. The food was OK, but service very average. From then on, we went to the Windjammer.
I soon found ...
My first cruise on Brilliance and one of only a handful on RCCL. To begin our Scandinavian cruise I parked at Park Plus at JFK for $228 for 14 days. Not bad for NYC, but I later learned that they have Groupons as well! We then flew on Icelandair from JFK to Heathrow. Icelandair is definitely a “no frills” airline. I’m used to inflight meals and sometimes free drinks on transatlantic flights; ...
We booked our cruise after buying a Groupon in the USA. Our agent was professional and everything went smoothly. We were in England on vacation prior to the cruise, and we are very familiar with their trains. However, if for you that isn't the case, no worry, as there is an express train that goes directly to Harwich, with just a short walk to outside the door of the cruise terminal.
We had a ...
First time cruisers but we felt well researched and organised our own shore excursions.
More relaxed than expected, only two formal dining nights, very few dinner suits seen and some guests ignoring dress suggestion altogether. Main Minstrel restaurant friendly service, food good quality, small portions but encouraged to order extra courses, some failures of cooking so not fine dining but ...
This was our third cruise, our second with RCI. Our first cruise was on Jewel Of The Sea and we had no complaints. We therefore expected the standard on Brilliance to be the same. Unfortunately this was not the case.
The positives were,
Check in was fine, no problem. The cabin was clean and comfortable and Alfred, the steward was helpful. The ports of call were very good. ( they were the ...
Food-- Upon boarding we went to eat. It looked like leftovers from the last trip. The mashed potatoes had no flavor or taste. I just can't describe them. Cold and tasteless I guess. The cookies were not fresh. Must have bought them at the day old store. Food in general was way below average. Even reported a employee blowing his nose and handling glasses with water without washing his hands. No WOW ...
