I have cruised on the Marina twice and was wondering how I would find the R class (smaller ship than the O class) Insignia. Well, I loved it. Why? The size was excellent and the passengers did not overwhelm the ports or tendering operations. Just a nice scale. True the Veranda suites are smaller and particularly the showers than the Marina but they were not disappointing. I did not miss the other ...
Overall the cruise was excellent and all that I had expected and hoped for.
I felt that the staff were excellent and accommodating.
The food was good most of the time, and I appreciate that the buffet is high quality and an excellent alternative to the main dining room. The food is not your typical buffet pre-made food, and there are lots of healthy choices.
The internet was terrible ...
This was my 6th cruise with Oceania and my 2nd on a R class ship
First the ship is a classic in design and style like a upscale British country hotel, Fine art, cherry paneling, fine carpets wrought iron and brass... class and ambiance. at 30,000 tons she is very seaworthy and easy to get around on 500 feet not like the 1000ft + monster ships. With only 520 passengers it was a ...
Review of Oceania (Insignia) Sept. 12 - Sept 29. Valletta, Malta to Miami Florida, USA
This was our third cruise (our first repositioning) and the first with Oceania. We were a bit trepidatious signing up for this cruise as we were not enthralled with our previous two experiences (NCL and Royal Caribbean). However, we were bowled over with the excellent standards on Oceania Insignia in all ...
It is important that everyone knows that the O'life promotion if you pick the free excursions they must be booked at least 14 days before sailing. Once on board you can not pick your excursions and will have to pay the full price of the excursions. I did not know that so I thought I would pass that information along. This ship Insignia had the best food of any cruise or land based restaurant I ...
I chose this cruise in the Baltic region because there were places on this itinerary I had never visited before. I was particularly interested in transiting the Kiel canal. I flew into Stockholm on the day of the cruise so was unable to visit the city as the ship sailed at 5pm. Embarkation was swift and easy as check-in was conducted on board in the Insignia Lounge. My preference was for a ...
My husband and I were on the Insignia July 1-19 for the Northern Crossing trip from Miami to Reykjavik. Overall, what a wonderful cruise; we really enjoyed the ship, several sea days, the ports and, most especially, staying in Reykjavik for a few days after disembarking.
But this is about the ship. We had sailed previously on the Marina (three weeks around South America in 2013). We also ...
Don't do this in the summer. We were hit with temperatures in the upper 90s and higher, with humidity around 100-percent much of the time.
Other than that, and the chairs scraping noise from the grill above our stateroom (see cabin review below), this was a wonderful cruise.
The ship is on the small side, only 684 passengers. You begin to recognize folks a few weeks into the cruise. ...
I'm quite late in reviewing my cruise from almost a year ago, but wanted to at least write a short review, my first on Cruise Critic despite numerous posts elsewhere on the site.
We've done 12 ocean cruises, most on Oceania, and I have enjoyed all of them. Just as background, we are 2 early sixties folks and average 1 or sometimes 2 cruises a year. We've taken 2 Caribbean cruises on ...
Our last cruise was on a huge Carnival ship, nearly 20 years ago so we did not know what to expect from Oceania but hoped for the best. We were blown away by the Insignia - there was nothing about the ship that we could find fault with. The cabin was comfortable, the Tranquillity bed was superb, the concierge was capable and professional. The food in all of the restaurants was out of this world - ...
