Pockets of good and bad service made the cruise average or less. Good to excellent were the stateroom attendant, bar tenders, casino staff, Steamers upcharge venue (add the lobster and crab for $12 more), and Ray Coussins on piano! Poor were the dining rooms for spotty service and errors in billing drinks; at least the food was good... Also the Ocean Medallion system did not work well except to unlock the stateroom door from 5 feet away. I was hoping to order drinks from any location but it was often not available or hard to get the order right. Food ordered with it arrived dried out and cold. Probably it’s best use was to locate cruise mates who allowed location sharing. The layout of the ship is good with 4 pools to choose from. The itinerary was boring except for swimming with the stingrays in Grand Cayman. Holding a ray as big as me made the whole cruise worth it. That said, we’ve decided our next cruise will be an all inclusive medium sized ship like Seabourn offers. Read Less

Caribbean Princess is a lovely and clean ship. Embarkation went quickly and smoothly with the new medallions. We enjoyed the shore excursions, a private beach in Roatan and Mayan Ruins in Belize City. The staff was pleasant. Our room steward and waiters in the dining room were very friendly and did a nice job. Our 2 children loved the kids club and the nightly shows in the princess theatre. However they were disappointed they could not swim because the pools were overrun with people, mostly adults drinking (even in the "family" pool). People would "claim" all the pool lounge chairs by 9:00AM by putting towels on them leaving them for hours at a time preventing others from using them. I never once saw staff removing towels from these chairs even though the policy said they would after 20 minutes of non-use. Our biggest problem was the noise in our cabin at night. Our cabin was located directly above a night club where a band played until midnight. It was so loud, we could have been inside the club! I take responsibility for not studying the ship plans better before selecting this cabin. However choices are limited for a cabin that sleeps 4. So if you are booking and have children that need sleep use caution! The biggest problem was the people in the cabin next to us. Every night they had parties n their room until 3:00AM. I have cruised before and never heard neighbors so I know rooms are sound proofed. These people were so loud, screaming, slamming doors, blasting music and even trying to open the locked adjoining door into our room. We complained to guest services on the second night when we realized it wasn't a one time thing. Their response was an apology and a security guard that came by 30 minutes later (of course, after the party had ended so they didn't believe us), and a bouquet of flowers that aggravated my allergies for the rest of the week! I enjoy the Club Class amenities. The Mini-Suites are centrally located on the ship. The Club Class Dining is exceptional. Quieter area. Nice linens. Excellent attention from wait staff. Extra menu items are always a nice added choice. The Caribbean Princess is a lovely ship, but once you sail on the newer class; Royal, Regal, and soon the Sky, the older ships aren't quite a elegant. However, the ship is well kept and laid out nicely for getting to/from activities. Never a crowded pathway when the Theater is letting out, or too many people crowding the buffet line. Princess does the Game Show activities for adults, but also kid appropriate. It offers a little something different if you don't want to watch the Theater shows. This itinerary going to Belize and Roatan was nice, as we had not been there. A repeat stop to the Grand Caymen is always pleasant with plenty of choices every time. The extended port time in Cozumel was perfect, gave us an opportunity to go to Cancun/Tulum on an extended shore excursion. Otherwise - Cozumel gets boring. I find the wait staff/service providers on Princess to be top notch. Pleasant, not rushed, informative. This was a full Medallion Class sailing. The Medallion itself is terrific. Small, easy to carry with a variety of options you can either pre-purchase or purchase on ship. The staff only asked your cabin number when ordering drinks, then they always acknowledged you by name when they brought your drink. This was because they confirmed your photo to make sure no one else was using your account. There were times when they had to read your name/cabin number on the medallion when they did not have a handheld tablet device. The 'Apps' did not work all the time. We had to log in frequently as for some unknown reason. The Ocean Now to order drinks/food didn't apply in the Theater, otherwise there was always sufficient wait staff to take orders. I didn't find a need to order anything to my room using the app. I would have used the Ocean Compass to locate Shipmates, and chat with them, but the app took too long and then if they weren't logged in, it obviously didn't work, but you wouldn't know why. The Medallion Internet was slow if you didn't purchase the unlimited - different band widths? The original Ocean Concierge app worked better in my opinion than the Ocean Compass for itinerary information, daily Princess Patter activities, Folio information and breakfast ordering. Doing the Ocean Ready app to pre-load your guest information did speed up the check in process at the port. There was no waiting. Overall - I really enjoyed this itinerary, ship and Princess. Medallion embarkation started the cruise off strong. But Medallions didn't exactly work as advertised. Had to download 4 apps to get full use and some in our party couldn't download and/or us all of them so we were limited in functionality. Can't add shipmates to your medallion if they are minors not in your cabin (privacy issues) yet all the cabins list every occupant even if they are underage...seems like a privacy issue. Desserts in the Main Dining Room were disappointing every single night so we usually went to the buffet upstairs for dessert. Not sure why this cruise was so bad for desserts...for example, on Italian night there was no tiramisu in the Dining Room. But the buffet had tons of it. Probably a blessing in disguise from a weight perspective. The entrees started off strong but got progressively weaker throughout the week. Missing flavor and consistency. Not sure I would go again unless we got a really good deal and the itinerary was fantastic. Regal or Royal are hands-down superior. Read Less

Never have we cruised with Princess before, and believe me we will never cruise with them again. We had the understanding that this ship had very recently been refurbished. Once in board, we saw little evidence of this. The ship is very OLD AND TIRED. Dining on board was not good. We ate in the main dining with a 7:30 seating. We had a large group of 14 and had thought we could all sit together. This was not the case. We were sitting by each other, but at 2 separate tables. The head server would “suggest” his picks for dinners, which he would add that the picks were not good. We had 2 formal nights. Having read the required attire we do not remember the mention of NO shorts for men. The first formal night 2 men of our group had nice linen shorts. We had the exchange of words with the head guy and finally sat. The 2nd formal night one of our group only had shorts with him, he was not permitted to enter for dinner. The cabins were small although clean. Our group ended up sitting in the back of the boat on the sea day. We never did see anyone to serve drinks The boat itself had a lack of bathrooms. The one women’s bathroom by the main dining room only had one of the toilets working and that was only for 1/2 of the cruise. Other then that, the bathrooms were not marked well and very hard to located We saw one show up in the Skylounge. It was horrible. We all were very disappointed. One in our group checked his bill the night before we disembarked. He expressed his dissatisfaction with the whole cruise and was told the employees were at the end of their contract and was just plain tired and this was why the service was poor. Seems to me that this shouldn’t be the paying customers problem and if this was the case the cruise should have been at a deeply discounted price All in all, I was 100% disappointed and as stated before will never cruise with Princess again, along with the 13 others who were with me Read Less

I've been to 7 cruises and this was my first with Princess. This was by far the best. Service was impeccable. Fast service in the main dining room unlike other cruises I've been too. The cabin steward was always there with a smile making sure that all was perfect. The entertainment was top notch. The show Bravo was excellent, real Broadway quality. That was the only cruise in the world that had a drag show. Very entertaining. The food was very good. The buffet had the largest item selection I've ever seen. The 4 deck area in the back of the ship was the best place to lay down and relax and just see the ocean go by behind us. The bar/nightclub Skywalker was awesome with a 360 degree view. It was an awesome vacation. Without a doubt, I am sold on Princess and will be looking forward to my cruise with them. Thanks Princess! Read Less

This was an adult only trip with me and my boyfriend We’ve always traveled on mega ships with kids and we wanted to try this ship out but knew that this was not something for the kids as they’re used to mega RCCL ships with lost of entertainment. The embarkation was super fast and smooth, our room was even ready when coming onboard! (That’s a nice surprise becaus RCCL makes you wait for the room for hours!) The ship has been refurbished and it’s shows in several places, but a lot of the lounges and walkways were dated. We had a balcony room. The rooms are nice but also a little dated. Mattresses/ pillows/comforters are super comfy, we slept like babies all week! The medallion makes it easy to enter rooms and worked great for us using it at bars where their tablets sensed us approaching and our names and pictures would pop up in their screen without us even having to scan the medallion for payment. Buffet was a disappointment. It looked like a good size buffet but there were not many choices, mostly side dishes and items for salads. Desserts were also disappointing. I have to say that RCCL truly our does it self in this department comparing to other cruise lines. I was hoping for some different, ethnic foods to try at the buffet but there was nothing. One night Indian style okra was served with rice, it’s was ok. The next day the left overs were served again. There was just nothing good at any day that we went. The good part is the way they run the buffet, there’s always one side open and you can walk in for water, tea and food if you’re hungry. There’s never a down time when the buffet is closed due to turnover from i.e. lunch to dinner, as we’ve experienced on other cruises. There are also many different options, Steamers had free lunch which alternates Raman noodle bar and Mongolian buffet (stir fry). There also a pizza place on deck 15 and Salty Dog where they serve burgers and hot dogs. The traditional dining was just OK. The wait staff is friendly and nice, but again, nothing as professional and efficient as other cruise lines. Waiters were not very personable and we never even knew their names. Entertainment on the ship was ok. I wish that there were more adult comedy shows as the cruise caters more to adults. We stopped at Grand Cayman where we did a stingray excursion that we booked with a third party because the cruise excursion was sold out and we were put on a wait list. I actually liked the third party one better because it was early in the morning before all the crowds arrive at the stingray spot and we also only made one more stop to snorkel, so we were done early. We ate at a local restaurant and went Bach to the ship. Next was Roatan where we rented a car and drove to west bay beach. Well, what a horrible experience that was. The beach was overfilled with tourist from ships and those staying at the resorts. People were literally rubbing shoulders in the water and the ocean was all murky from the sunscreen. Vendors harassing everywhere, if not to buy something then for a massage. We paid $20/pp to get into Paradise Beach resort and we’re told the price included a beach chair and umbrella. When we walked out on the beach, there were no chair or umbrellas available. The attendant offered to bring out two chairs and squeeze them in between the already packed tiny square of beach that belonged to the resort but said that they didn’t have the “free” umbrellas and we’d have to pay for one. So we already had spent $40 and now they wanted more. After saying there for 20 minutes, looking for a spot and arguing about the umbrella, we decided to just leave. We went back to the gate where we were charged the entrance fee and asked if they’d give us our money back since they didn’t have beach chairs or umbrellas. Nope. They refused. Didn’t even want to look at us. We got in our rental and drive off to find a free, remote beach where there aren’t 1000’s of people and we found just that! The locals weren’t cooperating in giving us directions to a less busy beach, they all get a kick back for the people they bring to the busy resorts, so we looked it up on the map and drive off and buy was it worth it. The west bay beach was truly horrific. Beautiful place but so over crowded. Next port was Belize, we didn’t do any excursions but wanted to walk around and take a picture at the Belize sign. Well, we could barely make it out of the port. The vendors formed a wall that we had to walk through, asking us to buy, take an excursion, braid our hair etc. small kids were also asking for $5. It was horrible. We ran over to the sign where we were asked for money and then ran right back to the port where they could get in. Next was Cozumel. We had planned on renting a car like we always do when we’re there but after getting really sick from the Mongolian buffet at the ship, we had no energy so we walked around the port, stopped at Fat Tuesday and went back to ship. Back to Fort Lauderdale next morning with a easy stress free disembarkation unlike other ships. Those are the worst days because I always feel like everyone’s rushing, they want you out of the room etc. We didn’t feel like that at all - and somehow they still manage to have rooms ready for people embarking way before other cruise lines do. Rooms have to be vacated by 8.30. Other things; the ship shakes and vibrates a lot! When sitting at the buffet, our glasses litter lot were sliding on the table from the vibration and it was maki g me sick to my stomach and hard to eat. The waitress told us that it’s something on that particular side of the boat, that it shakes so much. This ship is comparable with RCCL Enchantment of the Seas; it’s not that big, doesn’t have that many shops and the “happening place” is the piazza. Coffee on the ship is undrinkable. I don’t have coffee for almost a week. We bought coffee by the ice cream bar and it was a little better than the buffet. They do have good movies On Demand that you can watch in your cabin for free. Would I bring my kids on this ship? No. There’s not much to do, no zip lines, no flo riders, they wouldn’t like the buffet, not many pools like they’re used to, movie theater or ice skating, but that’s only because they’ve seen the best and we’ve been on more family friendly cruises. This definitely caters to an older clientele. The ship has lots of lounges and bars, I think 11 of them! People sit and play cards, games etc. Would I go again? Maybe another adult cruise. Read Less

Good, but not stellar for our first large ship cruise. While we were impressed with friendliness of the staff, general professionalism it had shortcomings in terms of a party boat and lacking the expected amenities and relaxing ambience for adults. Also a number of experienced cruisers commented that this did not rank highly in the Princess ship lineup or comparing to some of the other lines. But we now have a baseline for future comparison. The pool seen was generally way too crowded that generated into a party atmosphere some evenings. Lounge chairs were occasionally hard to find especially in a shady area as baking in the sun was not possible. Food service and quality was sometimes inconsistent in quality, although the presentations were very nice and attractive. The ships organization of activities overlapped not giving the opportunity to attend more than one. The desk services was sometime undermanned causing queues where we did not want to wait. Read Less

I coordinated and planned for over twenty people and didn’t even received a discount. All the band and music was great. The shows were great also. I enjoyed the excursions in Honduras and Belize. Lots to do in Mexico too. I wasn’t overall impressed . There was a black boy with our group that was profiled. Really 3.5 Stars but 4 is good. This was our first cruise and we always wanted to go to the West Caribbean and it was good. The biggest problem that we saw, was the lack of communication between the crew and the patrons. One crew member would tell you to go one place then you find out you are supposed to be somewhere else. The food was just average, even the Upper Restaurants food was so so. Movie under stars was really nice and entertainment was pretty good. The biggest complaint is the ports and the way the embarkation is handled. Talking with other people that have taken other cruises agreed with us, that they have never seen this handled this way before. All and all the cruise was pretty good, but prepare yourself before you go. Also, don't forget to take binoculars cause the stars are fantastic. The sky is so clear you won't believe what you can see at night. Read Less

Loved the itinerary on this cruise - Grand Cayman, Roatan, Belize, Cozumel. The ship has been refurbished and is very nice. Splurge for dinner at the Crown Grill, it's well worth it! We stayed in the family suite, which was great. Note: if booking this suite, it DOES have two upper berths in the interior room. I had a hard time figuring this out before we went. So the suite actually sleeps 6 people in beds (not pull-outs) but it would be tight with that many people. There are two bathrooms, one full size with a bathtub and one standard tiny one, a living room and a large balcony. However, the suite is on the very front of the ship which makes the balcony unusable due to wind when the ship is moving. This was a little disappointing. It's a gale force wind on the balcony. The benefits that come with a suite are amazing! The staff on this ship could not have been nicer or more accomodating. They were superb. There is a lot to do on the ship - we loved movies under the stars and trivia nights. In terms of excursions, it all depends on what you want from the cruise. This was our first cruise that made stops (our only other cruise was to Bermuda and we were docked for three days) so I was nervous about getting back to the ship on time. We booked excursions in all the ports except Grand Cayman where we rented bikes - bad idea. Grand Cayman really isn't very bike friendly. If I had it to do again, I would take a taxi or bus to Cemetery Beach and hang out there for the day. The beach in Grand Cayman is stunning!! In Roatan, we did the Tabyana Beach Break and lunch, which I would absolutely do again. The snorkeling was AMAZING. In Belize, we did Snorkeling Wonders of the Barrier Reef which was very disappointing. It was a long boat ride out to a tiny island, which would have been fine but we were only there for about two hours (at most) and the snorkeling was disappointing. I think if I ever do it again, I'll book a private snorkeling tour. In Cozumel, we did the jeep tour - very disappointing. We were under the impression that we would be driving jeeps through the jungle and along the coastline, when in fact we drove HOT jeeps along a highway until we got to Punta Sur Ecopark. We only had about two hours on the beach. Save your money and take a taxi to one of the very close beaches and spend the day there. In all, it was a wonderful cruise. I would definitely do that same itinerary again, but I would spend my time at each port differently. Read Less

We chose this cruise for the ports that were on it & heard that Princess was a nice company to work with. First, the medallion system was great for quick entries & exits on the ship, finding out how to get where we wanted to go and where things were located. Loved this system & wish other lines would follow along. The cabin itself could use an updating but was clean & the service was great. I especially liked the huge closet area that separated the bed from the bathroom. Loved the balcony. We liked the food in general and ate one night at Steamers/Planks, we were able to order from both at the same time, which was a nice feature. We tried to do a bit of everything Re: entertainment, some trivia games, casino. The seats in the theater seemed to be one size fits all and seemed to be a bit cramped. We took 2 shore excursions through Princess, A tour in Roatan with gardens & a butterfly garden and a stop at an animal place, stops at a restaurant for drinks & a stop at a cameo factory. In Cozumel we chose a sunset catamaran cruise which was just beautiful with perfect weather. In Grand Caymen, we were the only ship docked, so we just walked to the pier area and picked a tour of the area which was very nice. The only small problems were not enough clocks around the ship and the lack of a food area for midnight snacks. This was a great cruise and I can see us going on Princess again in the future. I am now enjoying many different perks and comps at the level of loyalty I have reached and will enjoy even more when I reach the next loyalty level. I intend to book many more cruises with this line . Everything I have experienced on board was up to the standard I expected each time I sailed. I enjoyed the on board amenities and the ports that were visited, Many of the ports have been built to make sightseeing and shopping a pleasure . Princess has been a step above Carnival, but over the last few years, the gap is shrinking. All announcements and especially the music were of such volume that it was physically demanding to tollerate. When asked to lower the volume, ship’s staff responded that it was necessary to be loud to create a party atmosphere. Food was below par, and service was simply average. I was served Cream Bule! That had obviously been sittyng long enough for the carmelization to melt and the pudding to decompose at the bottom. Ships dancers and singers were the absolute best! Every show was like a broadway performance. Bravos to them. Ship condition was really bad. Paint peeling off the ship, hand railings varnish was crinkling. Several sharp ends exposed. Electrical closets left open in passage ways. No water to rooms between 3 and 5 pm two days due to replacing water lines. Our safehad low batteries on second day. Key pad was also malfunctioning. Replaced batteries. Next day, replaced key pad with key pad with low batteries. Had to come back a third time to change batteries in the replacement key pad. Necessitated us having to stir our valuables in a friend’s room safe for a day. The new Medallion program might be fine in the future, but because of poor training of the ship’s crew, they were learning the system as were the passengers. I spent the entire first day of the cruise trying to figure it out. I should have been given a discount for having to do the work of the crew and loosing nearly an entire day of relaxation on the cruise. Suggest avoiding the Medallion cruises untill Princess rolls it out in a more user friendly manner. The last thing was that this cruise ship appeared to be a crew training ship. Supervision of staff was slim to none. Our sendoff was cold coffee in the zHorizons on the morning of departure. We asked for hot coffee and were told by the server that the coffee machine was broken and there was no hot coffee. Appropriate ending to a very disappointing cruise. Read Less

We've done many cruises with Princess so we wee not surprised that this one was so lovely. This is our second voyage using Club Class and it is worth every extra penny. The ease of dining, the uptick in service and food choices and those incredibly comfortable beds make it our favorite at sea experience. LOVED the ease of Medallion class. While it still has a few bugs in the Internet, it is much improved from previous experiences. Service is what Princess does best and it did not disappoint on this voyage. Having been on cruises before where there were long waits to embark, and long waits to get into the cabin, and what seemed like endless waits to get baggage, it all goes so smoothly it's hard to believe there are 3,000 other passengers. Since this trip was during spring break we saw lots of families on board, which we love to see. Wow what a disappointment! I read the reviews before booking and dismissed the negative ones thinking they were exaggerating. They weren’t. This was the worst cruise of the five I’ve taken. Biggest disappointment was the customer service and appearance of the ship in general. I finally figured out why the staff doesn’t seem to care: there’s a mandatory daily gratuity charged per person so they have no incentive to treat you like “royalty”. $13.50 per person per day - I don’t remember being told about this. So staff is being tipped regardless of service and it shows. This cruise was severely understaffed. The wait at the bar for a simple Diet Coke was maddening. Not one time at the pool did a waiter come around asking for drink orders. Always always had to go get it myself at the bar. Didn’t even have soda in the buffet, had to leave to go to the bar to fill my cup. I bought the soda pass which meant I had to carry around that big cup all the time to have it refilled. I was “upgraded” without being asked to an oceanview. The view was of a lifeboat. It’s laughable. I would rather have kept my interior stateroom. Buffet was unremarkable at best - never once thought wow this is delicious. It was just food. Tables were always dirty - again understaffed and couldn’t keep up with all the people eating there. Tried the dining room once and again not impressed. I really expected this cruise to be like the ones in the past where I just felt pampered and everyone was nice and friendly and happy. Not this crew. I felt like I was imposing more often than not. Our safe in the room quit working after a few days. We just laughed and thought well of course it doesn’t work. They claim this ship was refurbished. What the hell did it look like BEFORE?? It’s so dated that I felt like I’d been had. Harry Potter trivia was an event we attended - it was like a twelve year old’s mom threw together some questions and had us all sit around guessing the answers on paper and boom it was over. Twenty questions and that’s it. Pencil and paper. I mean come ON Princess. It was just pitiful. I heard other people talking and the same thing was being said. Not as good as other cruise lines. I will never again sail with Princess and will go back to Royal Caribbean where they know how to treat their customers and keep the ship clean and the food amazing. Princess is substandard and even smelled of raw sewage towards the end of the cruise. I was glad when it was over actually which is a sad testimony given the money spent. Read Less

Our week onboard was wonderful, good food, very nice staff, fun excursions. Cruise director Matt was a great guy, encouraging us to have fun and enjoy our vacation. Embarkation was easy even though we did not upload all our data on the Medallion ahead of time (my phone is too old to download app). Our room was very nice and the bed was really comfortable. Cabin steward Elmer was so friendly and helpful. Disembarkation was equally efficient. Medallion worked perfectly, although we needed 2 visits to the help desk to figure out how to use the internet. Once we got the hang of it we were fine. Our bill was accurate, no odd charges. Entertainment was very good. We enjoyed all the shows, and noted that if you want to go to the 7:30 show you should show up by 7 to get a decent seat. Shows were full by 7:15 every night. Did not do the movies by the pool, but other folks really enjoyed them. The sales staff did not browbeat you to buy things, we attended a meeting to learn about shopping in the ports which was fun and lots of people won nice prizes. Art show activities almost every day, if you like that. The big buffet upstairs had a huge selection of food, and you could also get a nice choice of food in the coffee area on the 5th floor. A very large latte was $3.50, so you can decide if the coffee card is worth it for you. We could not drink enough to justify the liquor package, and I doubt we drank enough for the soda package that we did buy. Princess says they have an IPA beer, but they do not. We had anytime dining and never waited in line, although if you want to eat at 7pm you will most likely have a line. The food was good, sometimes the ingredients were a bit weird for my taste. the mussels were way too salty and the lobster very small. Steak choices were good. Shrimp cocktail was 4-5 very tiny frozen shrimp. Dessert looked good, but were so-so. Anything hazelnut was good, and the pistachio pudding was the best. We used a ship excursion for the twister boat at Cozumel and it was a blast!! Arranged our own trips in Roatan and Costa Maya, and Grand Cayman. We had a wonderful time and I would book Princess again in a minute! Read Less

We chose this cruise 18 months previous to departure. It was the first cruise of 2 of our travelers, and the third cruise (previous one 20 years before) for the other 2 travelers. We chose this cruise and ship primarily for the ports of call. We were interested in the varied shore excursions offered, and the mix of environments at the ports of call. Boarding was simple and it was a pleasant surprise to find we had the option of an escort for embarkation since we were in a suite. Unfortunately, we left port approximately 2 hours late and that impacted our first port of call and tours. The ship was clean and appeared to be in good repair aesthetically. Our cabin had some minor damage, there was some carpet that was torn on the "kick plate" at the edge of the bathroom, and the door stop was broken for the main cabin door. Carpet was somewhat dated, however it was clean and the cabin was comfortable. Beds were nice and provided a good nights sleep. Our cabin steward was excellent, and we always had clean towels and the cabin was taken care of. With the suite, we had Club Class dining in the Coral Dining room, that service and food was excellent. We dined in the Island Dining room the second night we were on ship and there was a huge different in quality and friendliness of service between there and the Club Class dining. Our first night on board, we took advantage of complimentary specialty dining in the Crown Grill (again, a perk of having a suite), and that service and food was also excellent. The buffet was good, as with most buffets, you sometimes don't get a food item that you are interested in because they run out, however that was a minor inconvenience. It was occasionally crowded, but not bad for a large buffet. The breakfast cook to order omelets were great, and a wonderful treat each morning. The International Cafe, with 24 hour sandwiches and desserts left a bit to be desired. Some of the deserts were good and there was a variety; some were definitely not as tasty. The sandwiches were ok, though the chicken sandwich has virtually no meat on it and was very disappointing. We were frustrated that Coffee and Cones never had ice cream sandwiches available, even though they were on the posted menu sign. It also felt as though the specialty coffee drinks at New Grounds took quite a bit of time to create and this often resulted in lines and a wait, so we only ordered them once or twice. The bar service was pretty good, though we definitely found that some of the bars were a lot slower with service and not as friendly as others. Good Times at Sea became our favorite bar, and we would often stop by there to get a drink as we went to another location on the ship. Due to schedule times we only caught one show, a comedian. We did enjoy the night and wished that we had been able to see additional shows and productions. We also sat out on deck and watched the Movie under the Stars, that was fun, though the popcorn was a bit dry and not that tasty. Medallion Class and the OCEAN apps: The medallions made entering the cabin easy and almost hands free, sped up embarkation and disembarkation, made it easy to charge purchases to the room, etc. Much easier than handling and swiping a card for each and every thing. The medallions and OCEAN apps are supposed to make it possible to find those you are traveling with and to message each other. Unfortunately, the system did not work as Princess planned and out of the four of us traveling together, one of us could see 2 of the others, 1 could see only 1 of the others, and 1 could see everyone. We had trouble messaging each other, and since there is no message notification, if you don't constantly check for messages, you never know if ,you received one. This is a major flaw in the system (along with it not working properly for everyone). In addition, OCEAN Now, to order drinks and food did not work properly and also couldn't be used in several locations on the ship. The ports were great, offering a good variety of shore excursions and tours (which is one major reason why we chose this cruise). However we did have some issues. As mentioned previously, we arrived at our first port of call late due to a late departure from Ft. Lauderdale. The captain announced that we would stay in port a bit longer than scheduled and that tours had been adjusted. Unfortunately, they adjusted the tours so that the two we selected overlapped each other and we had to decide which to take. We were told we would receive a refund for the tour that we didn't chose (more on that situation a bit later in this review). For the most part, the tours themselves were as described and stated by Princess (we booked all our shore excursions through the Princess website). We did have an issue in Cozumel with the shore excursion. We chose the "ATV and speedboats", the description stated you drove in a 4 person "ATV" and then 2 person speedboats. What Princess did not convey (and when we spoke to the tour operators, they informed us that Princess chooses what information to list regarding the tours) is that lunch was included and that in addition to speedboats, we had the opportunity to snorkel. Because we didn't now that snorkeling was part of the package, we did not plan accordingly (swimsuits) and missed that opportunity (we also had to change our lunch plans since lunch was included with the tour). Now for the issues: 2 of us purchased the internet package. 1 of us prior to the trip, the other one just after we boarded before we went to our cabin. The front desk didn't input the internet order correctly and only charged for 24 hours though we requested the full week. Both of us had continued internet connectivity issues. This created a lot of frustration (we had family at home that we had to be able to communicate with) and disappointment, especially for the price we paid. When the 2nd person in group lost all connectivity the second day, we went to the Internet Cafe to get assistance. At that time we discovered that the front desk only charged for 24 hours instead of the full week we requested. We then had to deal with getting it refunded and getting charged for the full week (which they then overcharged us for). The second issue which became a major issue by the end of the cruise was with the billing for shore excursions. We prepaid our shore excursions through the Princess website on our Cruise Personalizer 4 months before our cruise started. When we requested a statement of account for each of the people in our suite (4 adults), we discovered that they were charging us $10.05 extra each person over what we prepaid. In addition, due to the fact that we had to cancel a tour due to late arrival in port, we should each be refunded $39.95 for that excursion. This totals $50 per person that was mischarged / not refunded. We spent approximately 2 hours on our last day at sea trying to rectify the billing situation for the shore excursions. It escalated to the Finance Manager and though both he and the Shore Excursion Manager agreed that that the numbers didn't add up, no one could explain why, or solve the issues and correct the billing. We ended up giving up on resolving the issue on ship, and have taken it up with our credit card company. The cruise would have been great, if we didn't have so many little issues to deal with (there were a couple of other little billing issues we had to correct). As it was, the issues we had to deal with (internet, incorrect billing, and wasting lots of time during our last day at sea), overshadowed our full enjoyment. Read Less

My family chose this cruise due to the itinerary (we'd never been to Belize or Honduras prior) and we'd never cruised Princess (we've sailed Royal Caribbean 5 times, Carnival 5 times, Celebrity 1 time). Embarkation was a breeze! We were dropped off by our hotel shuttle right at the curb where our bags were retrieved quickly by porters. We then went through security and then to check-in. Check-in was very quick and efficient, the entire process probably took 15 minutes and we were off to the ship. Once on board, my first impression of the ship was yes, it's older, but in very good shape. The public areas were well-maintained. Dining was a huge letdown I'm sorry to report. We dined in the Coral Dining room (table 109). Table service was somewhat slow as most nights we only had our main waiter with no assistant. Our table of 4 seemed to take much longer for food arrival than the other much larger tables surrounding us. The food quality and taste were very sub-par in my opinion. Most nights I ordered beef, and it seemed every beef plate was the same, each having what I describe as an 'institutional' flavor (what you'd expect in a hospital or school cafeteria). In Princess' defense, I've noticed this on other lines as well over time, it just seems the better food experience is saved for the premium fee-based restaurants onboard. (One night we dined at Sabbatini's, which my family all liked except myself. But in Princess' defense, I'm not much on traditional Italian cuisine.) Entertainment options were fair. Had this itinerary only consisted of 3 stops instead of 4 I personally would have gotten bored with the entertainment options. We attended 2 Broadway-style shows, a magic show, and a comedy show. Nothing exceptional in my opinion. The karaoke show we attended in one of the smaller ship venues was actually my favorite shows, watching and listening to fellow guests sing really badly lol! On at-sea days I typically enjoy sitting by the pool and relaxing in a shaded hot tub. Unfortunately, on the Caribbean Princess, doing this was next-to-impossible for me due to the fact that I'm a late riser and by the time I'd gotten to the pool area practically every lounge chair was taken. As for a shaded hot tub, there was only one I found which was located in the spa area which incidentally was restricted to guests 18 and older (which left my 15-year old daughter out). The hot tubs on this ship seemed very small (tiny compared to the Oasis-class ships on RC). None had full shade. As for excursions we purchased the Belize Lamanai Mayan & New River excursion from the ship which was fun, although very hot and humid. In Grand Cayman, we purchased a tour of Grand Cayman through the ship that was sub-par. The trip to Hell was a HUGE tourist trap, the best part of the tour was spending 3-hours on a private beach. One tip I'd give would be to purchase your excursions through the cruise line for Belize and Grand Cayman due to the fact that you get off of the ship first if you have purchased an excursion via the ship. Since these 2 ports are tendered you'll be assured you won't miss your excursion. In Honduras and Cozumel we purchased our own excursion which was MUCH less expensive than the cruise lines prices. The service at the pizzaria and burger joint on Deck 15 was sub-par on most days I visited. The pizzeria had a very long line of guests waiting for pizza and only 2 cooks staffing. It was quite obvious many guests were extremely irritated by the wait time. The burger joint experienced the same problem, except here you're handed a beeper and made to wait. My plain burger took over 15-minutes! I couldn't understand why they simply didn't serve burgers 'cafeteria-style', where you order as you walk through the line (like on Oasis-class ships)? These 2 venues seemed extremely understaffed and ill-managed. Overall, even with my somewhat negative remarks, we did have a very nice trip. The balcony cabins were great if you like to spend a lot of time just relaxing watching the ocean waves as I do. If you like a lot of different type ship activities (rock-wall climbing, bumper cars, ice skating, etc.) then this definitely isn't your ship. For me, I prefer larger, newer ships with many different activities (like RC's Oasis-class); however, if you've been to St Thomas, San Juan, and the Bahamas over and over you'll eventually will want to try something different which requires a smaller ship to get into off-the-beaten-path ports. Embarkation and disembarkation were smooth and quick. But the food was horrible. In 7 days I never got a piece of seafood that wasn't overcooked, nor a piece of beef that wasn't tough. Lobster was inedible. Desserts were beautiful but not tasty (I was really looking forward to the ice cream because I'm addicted to it, but it was icy and full of crystals). Chocolate was all dark and bitter. And that was the main dining room. The Marketplace buffet was no better...just a bigger selection of bad. Even the upscale Crown Grill was awful. Neither my husband nor I could eat our ribeyes..so tough and full of gristle. We even had a green fly land on the food. Room was small and the toy shower was a joke. So was the entertainment in the princess theater except the last night. That was very good. The comic was also funny on one night. Some elevators didn't work and they had buckets sitting in dining areas to catch water from leaks. Thank goodness the bed and pillows were wonderful and comfortable. Other cruisers we talked to had some of the same opinions. Oh, the end of cruise sales were no sales. Very overpriced. It was next to impossible to get room or guest services on the phone. And when we did get room service they brought tea with either no sweeteners or nothing to stir with. Room steward was nice and helpful, but so short she couldn't reach the ceiling to clean the dirty vent in the bathroom, which my husband did himself so nothing would fall out of it on us. We did have a couple of good servers which we acknowledged personally. Read Less

Great ship, David Clark, Cruise DIrector was fun and personable and a great entertainer too!! Matt 54 was on the cruise we took 2 yrs. ago and is a wonderful guy!! My sister & I were happy to see him again, and as an Asst. Cruise Dir. He is sooo much fun, tells great stories and had a ball at the line dance lessons and country dance night....he mixes all ages 16-80 in his lounge games and is just a HOOT!! The food was good, service impeccable and we enjoyed the NE lobster better than 2 yrs. ago. The desserts were great and a good variety. We love the Intl'. Cafe, but wish they had more salads available. Room Service for a light breakfast was good, as was Horizon 2 mornings. We ate 2 breakfasts in the dining rooms and they were quick and delicious, especially disembarkation day. We appreciated that as we were up very early. We loved the entertainment, Piano Man show great and Nathan Foley was wonderful and enjoyed his 2 shows. Voice of the Ocean was fun and loved all the judges....there were a good variety of acts and the theatre was packed....a Win, Win evening!! Disappointed we missed the variety show at 9 due to a staff members injury earlier, but we visited the casino and had fun. The Motown DJ Night in Skywalkers was fun and we got to dance some. What can we say..."we love the Sanctuary"!! We went right upstairs after checking into our cabin and reserved 2 afternoons during the sea days and felt sooo pampered! It is nice and relaxing and loved the English tea and scones, etc. Only downfall is you can't make a reservation ahead of time...that would be a plus. Has Princess ever thought of offering 10 minutes free internet the last night so passengers can print out their boarding passes? It would sure mean a lot to us and be good customer service. Front Passenger desk employees get an A+ for friendliness and ability to help, all with a smile. We did some snorkeling and swimming in Roatan and Cozumel with other tour companies and had fun. Disappointing we could not swim in Belize and tours offered from Princess were very pricey. Some events on ship were to sell things.....Effy, shopping services, etc. and spa services, so we didn't like that. Photographer was rude and then we had two pics with our eyes closed...not very professional. Embarkation and disembarkation all very smooth. Thank you again Princess!! The negative reviews are not true!! Read Less
