Poorest service ever on a cruise ship! I would give it less than 1 out of 5 if I could!

Review for a Mediterranean Cruise on Queen Elizabeth

Chose this ship since it was going through the panama canal, across the atlantic and on to the mediterranean. Worst staff ever! most staff were incompetent at their jobs, especially reception and pursers office. Many staff were outright rude! we have never seen such widespread rudeness on a cruise ship. Room steward LOCKED ME OUT on my patio and then blamed the door (said it locked ...

First time on QM2 - experience and impressions

Review for a Europe - British Isles & Western Cruise on Queen Mary 2 (QM2)

I have just returned from a 14 night cruise around the Mediterranean on Queen Mary 2. Whilst we have travelled many times on Queen Elizabeth and Queen Victoria this was my first time on QM2. One cannot help but be impressed by the sheer size, spaciousness and quality of the interior of the ship, evoking the grandeur of past ocean-going liners. The Royal Court theatre is quite impressive ...

An excellent experience

There were faults with this cruise, but not over the things that are important to me. These are cabin, food, service, a calm and serene atmosphere, an elegant and spacious ship. All these aspects were excellent, especially the quality of service, which was faultless. The passenger/crew ratio of 1.77:1 was good, and there seemed more than enough staff. Yes, the QM2, being an ocean liner does have ...

Are we seeing the end of cruising’s golden age? Months of false starts, cancellations and frankly awful standards of service from certain companies - no names no pack drill - had made me pessimistic but having just returned home from a 14-night cruise to the Mediterranean on board Cunard’s QM2, I’m brimming with confidence. The good times are back! QM2 is an elegant ship - plenty of dark ...

We have sailed with Cunard since 2004 we have diamond passenger status, but this ship was a disaster, we paid £13,500 for a p1 grill room for a two week voyage , the cabin wasn’t as clean as it should be , the toilet bowl VERY obviously wasn’t clean, and my husband stupidly used the brush to clean it before I got a chance to call the steward, the tv system in the rooms is still worse than rubbish ...

A delight to be back

Finally, at, I think, our seventh attempt we made it back on to a Cunard ship, and enjoyed ourselves very much. We have cruised with Cunard many times and were pleased to see everything was much as expected, with a few differences because of Covid. By far the worst part was embarkation which took about an hour and three quarters rather than the usual 20 minutes. I’m not sure why this was, ...

Cunard Queen Elizabeth starting to become very poor value.

We chose a back to back cruise to celebrate our birthdays. The first 12 nights we were Club Balcony and the second 17 nights on Princess Grills. I will talk about dining later. The Club Balcony we chose was on deck 7 with an extended very large curved balcony, the stateroom is similar to most other balcony cabins but at an increased cost due to the Club Dining. Most Club Balconies offered are ...

There are limited areas where you can find a sun lounger round the pool. We went to to Pavilion Pool starboard on Deck 9, several times, as that is where the sun was. The bad news is that Deck 10 starboard is smoking. Every day we would be made to feel sick and asthma triggered by the bank of smokers a few feet above puffing away. There was one particular 'gentlemen' who every day would take ...

We looked forward to this cruise as it marked my retirement and my wife’s birthday, we had had to save for this one and had handed over our hard earned cash with pleasure we loved being cosseted by Cunard’s attentive staff. This would be the 12th or so cruise and our second 28 night cruise with them. So we knew what to expect. Lovely. We joined the QM2 as scheduled following a Covid test each. ...

First few days out of Southampton were quite choppy at sea and a lot of passengers appeared to be staying in their rooms. Ship movement prevented the acrobatic act from performing in the theatre and outside deck areas were closed. Thankfully, conditions improved once the ship had got past the Bay of Biscay and temperatures rose the closer we got to the Canaries. Meals in the main restaurant ...
