My wife and I (55-60) just came back from our first main line cruise in a while - about five years, I have never written a review before but have been prompted by friends to pen this "non review" for the benefit of other folks like me who thought they knew it all.
As background, we have gone on a dozen cruises, at various price points (never super luxe), and have enjoyed every one.
SO the trip ...
Booked an Aqua Class Veranda in the stern this time after having same toward bow the first voyage. We were under the weight room and the dropping of weights in early morning woke us up. So, we were in the stern where it was nice and quiet.
Our steward, Mariano, was probably one of the best ever! I like to put a bath towel over the desk chair since I use that for my vanity. Other stewards always ...
We had a great time on our 7 night Celebrity cruise. A few things to mention. Our dinners were alright. Sometimes they were a bit sub-par. I will say our sommelier at dinner Despot was amazing. We were so lucky to have his patience and expertise. The oceanview cafe was very unimpressive. The options were limited, the food was cold, they would close down a lot of the stations. The room service ...
This cruise and ship was excellent in almost all aspects. Exception is our stateroom (see below). From embarkation to disembarkation and everything in between was very good. Service was nice and prompt. With 3000 passengers on this ship it NEVER felt crowded anywhere on the ship at anytime.
Service was generally very good at all the bars and restaurants. The Martini Bar can sometimes get a bit ...
My wife and I are in the 40’s range and this was our third Celebrity cruise, and our second time on the Solstice.
If you read Cruise Critic regularly, you probably know about Celebrity cutbacks. Having done the Hawaii cruise on the Solstice less than a year from this one, the cutbacks were very noticeable. The first change we noticed was the reduction of the activities staff. Before there were ...
We are a family group of five ranging from early 70's down to 17. Travelling from England we arrived in Seattle four days prior to embarkation and thoroughly enjoyed our stay.
Mum is in a wheelchair, and we couldn't have been better looked after at embarkation which was quick and painless. We were sipping sparkling wine on board about 30 mins after arriving at the docks. Unfortunately whilst we ...
This is our first time to sail with Celebrity and we found the Solstice to be a good quality boat. The food was well above average and two of the specialty restaurants, Murano, and Silk Harvest were of excellent quality.
The cleanliness of the ship was very good and the staffs attention to sanitization was omni present. We sailed in the concierge class which for a few more dollars offer a ...
This was only our second cruise, the first being ten years ago. Everybody who had cruised Alaska raved about it, so we wanted to see for ourselves. Seattle is not one of my favorite cities, but Solstice is now one of my favorite ships. The rumors are correct; you do not realize that 2799 of your best buds are on the same ship, except possibly in the buffet at lunch, or when one of the shows has ...
Although my husband and I have traveled the world, this was our first cruise. We decided to experiment by using our home port of Seattle. In summary, the experiment was a success and we will cruise again, perhaps with Celebrity or possibly on their more prestigious line, Seaborne.
The Good:
* Naturalist Brent Nixon was GREAT! I can't say enough about his ability to teach, entertain and grab the ...
My family booked two cabins (solstice 7153 and solstice 8341) for a week long alaska voyage last month. We have previously sailed only once, on Oceania's Marina for 10 days in the Med. The purpose of this cruise was primarily to assess whether Celebrity would tick the same Oceania boxes for my parents, since Vacations To Go ranks the Solstice as 5.5 stars, right beside Marina. We would hate to ...
