Ups and downs

Review for a Alaska Cruise on Celebrity Infinity

Firstly, this is only my 2nd cruise in over 10 years, so its hard for me to rate this, as have little to compare it with. We went through a recommended travel agent as I wasn't sure what needed to be done. Well, our agent did very little. I bought travel books and went on numerous sites (including this one) to see what I might expect. Embarkation and Disembarkation had me very concerned as ...

My expectations based on previous reviews were to find a tired, old ship with disgruntled waitstaff. Nothing could be further from the truth. The ship looked fresh and clean. Waitstaff was friendly and fairly attentive. We had a suite so we also had the good fortune to dine in Luminae instead of the main dining room. What a perk! It's about time suite guests were given a very tangible and ...

What a let down

My heart sank when we stepped on board. A tired ship with no wow factor atrium or even aged splendour, just worn out. The only plush place was the casino & I didn't wish to spend any time in there! Cabin was not overly clean and staff generally seemed very down and demoralised. No sail aways, which is a shame as you do start a holiday full of expectation and it was all low key. We had a ...

Generally the cruise was nice, the ports were great We had a Concierge class stateroom 9201. I would not book Concierge class again as i don't believe that the extra money paid is value for money. They advertise fresh flowers....we never got them. They advertise use of Binoculars, no use if they are broken ( and then the replacements were also broken. They advertise a pillow menu, but the cabin ...

Positives Overall we enjoyed the journey. The ship, cleanliness and service were excellent. Staff all friendly and engaging. Ports of call were great and we enjoyed all the stops. Entertainment was varied and of high standard. Food - lots of choices although the buffet could look at changing options more often as we found it was often the same. We had the anytime dining ...

Celebrity not worth the hype

My husband & I began cruising two to three times a year for about the last 5 years. This was our first Celebrity cruise and we were less than impressed. To begin, the new port terminal in San Francisco was very nice, and drop off much simpler than getting off on a busy street outside the aging terminal down the street. But the wait was the longest of any cruise yet. We were in line for what ...

Norovirus Didn't Mar Cruise; Bring Back Skagway instead of Icy Strait Point

Celebrity Infinity, #8108. Built 2001, Last Drydock 2014 ~90,000 Tons 2,170 to 2,604 passengers Modern Luxury Theme is an oxymoron when their WIFI, to quote Mr. Spock from City on the Edge of Forever, “is worse than stone knives and bear skins.” The reservation process with this cruise was very frustrating. Onboard, they told me that the room was 205 square feet, but when we ...

Very poorly done for a Alaska cruise.

First of all we had a very difficult time getting into San Francisco due to weather conditions (heavy fog). My wife called Celebrity help desk to find out if the ship was leaving later than expected. We were told in a very cold voice to be at the terminal by 4 pm or we would not be allowed to board. After landing in SF on another airline and a mad, mad dash to the cruise terminal by taxi at ...

Ups and Downs on Infinity to Alaska

Embarkation - Embarkation was delayed due to port issues, a CDC inspection and "deep cleaning." The test of a process is how things are done when something goes wrong. In this case, Celebrity gets a minus in dealing with the issues. There were lines everywhere, inside and out of the terminal and there was little communication or assistance to those in line - particularly, for handicapped or ...

I'll never sail on the Infinity again

Celebrity Cruises made our first few cruises absolutely magical, and that included the old Century which has since been sold. I swore I would never cruise with anyone but Celebrity. And I STILL wouldn't. Many small problems plagued this cruise. It all started with the absolutely chaotic boarding. Boarding was delayed because of the norovirus on the previous cruise. We arrived very early and ...
