We choose this cruise because of the ports visited-Sicily, Malta, Argostoli,Greece, Dubrovnik, Croatia, Koper, Slovenia. The ship is older, but still lovely. We were in an Aqua class cabin at the rear of the ship and loved it. We enjoyed the Blu Dining Room where the food was excellent. We felt the staff was very accommodating throughout the ship. A lot of people on the forum complain the ship is “tired”, but we enjoyed its smaller size and next year it is due for an overhaul. If you are looking for a mega ship with all the new bells and whistles, this is not the ship. However, if you are concentrating on the ports of call and want a lovely means of transportation, this is a great ship and itinerary. We used the ships excursions exclusively and were happy with each and every excursion we attended. By watching the website for sales and using ship credit, the excursions were reasonable. We only had one sea day on this cruise, so we did not participate in many on board activities. However, I attended two dance classes and they were a blast. I also had a message at the Canyon Ranch Spa and it probably was the best message I’ve ever had. The ships entertainment was fine. We attended a couple of production shows and a comedian who was hilarious. All in all we had a fantastic cruise on the Infinity. Read Less

Disappointing Celebrity infinity Cruise of the Adriatic Sea Our recent cruise of the Adriatic Sea on Celebrity infinity was disappointing. We had just completed a seven day family cruise of the Western Mediterranean on Norwegian Epic and the difference in the quality of our experience between the two cruises was quite marked. We have been loyal Celebrity customers for well over ten years having cruised with the cruise line on twelve previous occasions with a further three with the broader RCI Group. We have noted a quiet but steady decline in the quality of the Celebrity product over the past couple cruises. This decline in standards on virtually all measures is now quite stark and, overall, we were very disappointed in the cruise experience on a number of levels. The bad experience started with the very poor handling of a passport/visa issue (not of our making) at check-in. The passport control officials were in our view, officious and uncommunicative, and it took over one and a half hours to sort the problem out. We are still not aware precisely what the issue was but the whole process was frustrating and distressing and got the whole cruise experience off to a bad start. The bad vibes we were getting about the ship were compounded by a massive misunderstanding about a Captains Club loyalty on-board credit that Celebrity disputed had been offered despite us producing documentary evidence downloaded from the Celebrity website, that the loyalty credit had indeed been applied. In an almost two hour wrangle at the front office desk , where we were even virtually accused of fabricating the document and the Guest Relations official with whom we dealt made it perfectly clear that the onus was on us to prove the on-board credit was genuine. He kept on insinuating that the credit was something that our travel agent must have offered and could not grasp the simple fact that it was a Celebrity Captains Club loyalty credit that was in dispute. The whole process was distressing and embarrassing and necessitated us having to contact our travel agent back in South Africa who in turn had to contact Celebrity head office in Miami to confirm the loyalty credit was a Celebrity benefit that should have been automatically applied without question. Despite our agent being assured by Miami that the credit was indeed genuine and should have been automatically applied to our account, and that they would confirm this fact directly with the ship, it took a further two days for the matter to be satisfactorily put to bed and this, only after the intercession of the Concierge Class Concierge who personally undertook to see the matter to a satisfactory resolution. All in all an unnecessarily unpleasant experience for which we receive absolutely no apology from Guest Relations for the poor manner in which this matter had been dealt. We had cruised on the Infinity on two previous occasions. Signs of wear and tear are evident everywhere confirming the need for the vessel to undergo a major refurbishment which we understand is scheduled within a year or so. This cannot come too soon. Furnishings and fittings are in a bad state of repair in many areas, notably the buffet restaurant. Pool towels were threadbare and often torn while pool loungers were out of shape, smelly, stained and had clearly seen better days. Celebrity have probably decided not to spend any more on the Infinity until it undergoes its refurbishment. If this is the case it is a policy that should be reconsidered because frankly, the standard of the pool furnishings in particular, are disgusting and certainly not what one should or could expect from a five star cruise liner. On the positive side, the ship’s hard working cleaning and maintenance staff do an admirable job in trying to keep this ageing vessel in reasonable shape. Decline in standards in many other areas were also evident. As examples, the quality of amenities in Concierge Class staterooms is now notably inferior. Food quality in the buffet restaurant was probably the worst we have yet experienced on any cruise we have taken. Variety and standard of beverages included in the Classic package has clearly been reduced in an obvious attempt to persuade passengers to upgrade to the Premium package. Not all was negative though. We were privileged to sail the beautiful Adriatic Coast visiting some quaint, interesting ports along the way. We found the food quality and presentation in the main dining room to be generally of very good standard. Celebrity’s crème brulees still rank with the best! We actually had a meal at the speciality Tuscan Grille and frankly, thought the standard of fare in the main dining room was better. We also dined twice at the speciality Sushi on 5 dining venue and thoroughly enjoyed our meal on both occasions. Entertainment, as we usually find on cruise ships, was a bit iffy. The main production shows were some of the best we have yet experienced and these shows were supplemented by performances from a top class card magician and a classically trained operatic quartet who had reached the finals of Britain’s Got Talent. Really good. On the other hand, some of the other musical entertainers performing around the ship were of no more than basic cruise ship standard. We cannot conclude this somewhat negative review without a “shout out” to the hard working staff and crew who at all times provided friendly, efficient and attentive service and, even at trying times, almost invariably with a smile. Even when one is having a bad day, the friendly smiles and greeting we received form the Celebrity team, helped make the bad day or bad experience just that little bit less of an issue! We have been loyal Celebrity aficionados for many years having attained Elite Plus status a number of years back so our commitment to the Celebrity brand cannot be questioned. However, our less than happy experiences on this cruise, coupled with our perceptions of a steady decline in the standard of the Celebrity product offering, are making us seriously question whether we will ever cruise with Celebrity again. For the first time in many years we have not booked another Celebrity cruise while we were on board. However, we have already booked cruises on Costa (an Indian Ocean destination specific cruise of which our expectations are not too high save for the bucket list destinations we will be visiting), and a Viking cruise from Bergen to Barcelona. It will be informative to see how these two highly diverse product offerings compare to what has been our preferred brand for so many years. Read Less

We were on a 12 night cruise in the Western Med in an Aquaclass cabin. We were somewhat concerned before we left on this cruise having read a number of reviews talking about how tired the ship looked and indicating the food was so so. This was not our experience. The ship is older but I found it very clean and well maintained. They were repainting large sections of the wooden railings on this voyage. We ate most nights in Blue (never ate in Trellis) and the food was above average and on most nights was excellent. The staff were great. We did have a couple of lunches and a breakfast in the Oceanview Café and we were impressed with the choice and the quality of the freshly prepared pasta and omelettes. Café Al Bacio was great and the Martini Bar was a blast. The staff were very friendly and always helpful. Only our 3rd cruise and all with Celebrity. On our first two cruises we were in suites but we found the Aquaclass passengers we met in Blu a lot friendlier than the suite class guests we met on other cruises. The retreat might be a good enough reason to book a suite on our next cruise. However, we liked Aquaclass and actually preferred the food and atmosphere in Blu as compared to Luminae. Read Less

We wanted to see Mykonos, Athens and Santorini and have cruised with Celebrity on a number of occasions. Overall it was a decent itinerary with 8 x ports and 4 x days at sea. Good staff and some really good U K based performing acts in the theatre. Food overall was good but the main dining room menu is getting a bit stale and as such we ate in self service restaurant on a few occasions which was a nice change. We found it disappointing that we could not even try a Martini, using our drinks package, you needed premium, in the Martini Bar. In general the wines that we tried at night did not match the quality from previous Celebrity cruises. We booked three shore excursions through Celebrity and two through Cruising excursions, which on the whole were far better value than Celebrity. Although the ship was okay it is definitely looking very tired and in urgent need of a refit. We also enjoyed coffee at Al Bachio and the occasional confectionary on a daily basis. It was also nice to be sitting somewhere and one of the onboard entertainers would set up and start playing. Read Less

We chose this cruise because of ports, We have always had the best service on Celebrity. This cruise did not disappoint. Main dining room service was the best. We cruised with my cousin and his wife. We booked select dining and ate at the same time almost every night. We had the same waiter every night. The waiter was outstanding. He gave the best service I have ever had on a cruise ship. We have cruised 37 times. We enjoyed the ports in Spain . They were the best. We flew in Barcelona 2 days early, it was the right thing to do. We took ship tours at every port except one. Entertainment on the ship was very good. They had a British Comedian who was very funny. The singers and dancers were also good. The had a new guy and girl singing duo RAEGAR they were so good we bought their CD. On the down side we had a storm at sea that caused us to change a port and but we still had 9 ports in 11 days. It rained all day in Rome. We took the Vatican tour. Inside the Vatican is amazing, Read Less

The cons: We chose this cruise because I read that there aren't many children on this cruise, however, there were about 40% whining, screaming kids. Also the caliber of passengers was shocking -- i.e. women dressed like strippers at breakfast, etc. Other things I did not like were: most of the activities were based on sales pitches, i.e. selling diamonds, whiskey, wine, etc. Nothing that interested us. There was nothing, not even a colored egg or candy, for Easter. The chairs were always taken in the solarium -- people put towels on them and went elsewhere. The music in the buffet was loud and wailing -- not appropriate. The buffet opened at 12pm and 6pm, which I think is too late. The clam chowder had NOTHING in it but the broth -- not one clam or potato, etc. The crew served dessert at the buffet as if people weren't trusted to do it themselves. Also catsup was squirted on plates in the dining room -- again no trust. We had a concierge cabin and the hors d'oeuvres they delivered in the afternoon were a JOKE -- 4 pieces -- no bigger than a dime each. I ordered a scotch and water with a twist at the Oceanview Bar and it was served in a tall glass with a wedge of lemon. The excursion in Nassau was 3 hours, beginning at 11am, yet there was no provision for lunch. And restrooms were scarce. The worst part was it was at least a mile to walk to the bus from the ship. The pros: The concierge was very helpful, we loved the veranda, the cruise was so smooth it didn't seem like we were moving, the crew were all very nice and the dining room was spectacular. The escargot was outstanding and the hamburger at the pool grill was also very good. Read Less

We wanted a quick little get away, we love to cruise and have been for many years. We took a 7 day Celebrity cruise about six years ago and thought it was wonderful. We hoped this would be the same due to the companies reputation but could not be more disappointed. We took an Aqua Class Stateroom with balcony which was small and cramped especially the bathroom, whenever you took a shower the whole bath floor got wet! The ship was allegedly updated not long ago, don't know what they updated but they probably need to go back to the drawing board. The a/c barely kept our room comfortable, the TV didn't work most of the time, the water coming out of our of the faucet and shower was dark rust colored at times! We tried to get a glass of wine at one of the bars, the bartender moved toward us, told my wife to have a nice day and then left! What great service! With a Classic drink package and trip insurance this was a $1,200.00 two night cruise. Not cheap at all for a small cramped room, lousy service and rust colored water. We could have gone on a three night with another Cruise line for nearly 1/2 that price! Again we went with Celebrity for their reputation. We also were constantly being solicited to try one of the private, pay for what you eat on board restaurants. We didn't come on the cruise to be constantly solicited, we came to relax. The only saving grace on this cruise was having the Aqua Class private dining room. We did have a great ocean view, the food was great and our waiter Hendar was fantastic! If not for the private restaurant and great staff this would have been a total loss. For me the bottom line is save your money, go on a different cruise line or just stay home. You will be much happier, we wish we never went. Celebrity has lost our business. We will be on a competitor from now on. Read Less

I would do this again. Embarkation and disembarkation were flawless. This was an easy to negotiate, enjoyable, pleasant cruise for those over 60. I saw most people, lounging with a good book for most of the day. And pool side, decks 10&12 got full quickly. Others with friends enjoyed some sort of board game. The ship has very obvious worn spots in several of the lounges. I actually witnessed a chair fall apart in the Constellation lounge. It is a clean ship throughout and you will find precautions to maintain sanitation in the common areas. The restrooms are well maintained. The food is good in the Cafe and well presented. The Trellis dining room could have more light, has a good menu and very attentive wait staff. We had a seafood lunch at the Tuscan Grille, two king crab legs, and too much filler crab cakes; clearly not worth $40 a piece. Now the downside for the rating of 4: 1) I found no value in the internet package - my emails did not load up until I returned home, although my daughter was able to use her lap top and phone pool side, 2) I found no value in the premium drink package, if you don't drink Evian water, Absolut, Patron or any other top shelf alcohol, the other packages will do and if you don't watch the the bartender reach for the bottle and watch them pour, you're probably not getting the good stuff anyway OR a drop (I saw that, she poured a drop in the shot glass), the Martini Bar and the bar at pool side are the best places to get a real drink, 3) I could not understand one word of the musical we went to, 4) make sure you get your SeaPass card back, they forget sometimes,5)the staff did get a bit pushy in selling the packages, they work on commission. Loved this cruise. It was delightful! to welcome the New Year (2019) at Sea. The atmosphere on board was fun and thoroughly entertaining. The only reason I gave it a four star rating, was based on the beds in our veranda family suite. I sailed with grandchildren who were uncomfortable on the older, thin mattresses on the daybeds. The atmosphere on board was festive and I truly felt on vacation each day. Music filled the air as we strolled through the ship during the evening hours. A good variety of options were available for entertainment. I spent time in the casino which was lively and fun. I should note that while I traveled with family (3 generations) I am disabled. I use a scooter and have fairly good access throughout the ship. Staff were courteous and helpful My children enjoyed the "Snuba" experience. This entails using a raft that holds the air tanks with long hoses for the divers. They had a great time. Read Less

I want to start this off on a positive note, not that I consider this a negative review. You can stop reading after that. The next paragraph is the most important!!!! The highlight, which we went to twice on a five night cruise, was Le Petit Chef. THAT was something else. I think the price is a bit high, but we still went back a second time. I have no idea where you would find this experience other than here! I booked this 2 years ago to take my 92 YO Mom on a cruise. She had a companion who helped her a lot. The interior spaces are fine, but the exterior need scraping and painting. I understand they did an "upgrade" but I only saw Celebrity "normal". I think most of the improvements went into the high end suites (we were in a S2) and common areas that need their normal carpet change etc. They certainly didn't do much to the superstructure. I was disappointed in the buffet offerings and quite frankly, after all this time, the Luminae menu needs help. X needs to check the demographics, I believe that they will find many of the Suite guests are repeaters. We need a more variety because even though the MDR is offered, that is getting pretty lame too. No more JVS meatballs etc. Still, James, our waiter would give me meat sauce from the MDR on the Oriechetta served in Luminae. THAT is the level of service in suites! You get what you pay for. Mom was in a wheel chair and the staff went out of their way to have patience while she slowly went from wheel chair to a table chair. Several people asked about taking the elderly, X will help all they can. We rent a scooter, we have had them successfully before, but this one was a bit too peppy. It scared her so she wouldn't use so we pushed her. We used the Airport transfers. The bus staff would not help her, they left it to the companion. Please note, this was a family friend, not a service person. They dropped them off at American instead of Southwest. Read Less

I (late 30s) took my parents (70s) on their 1st cruise to celebrate mom's 70th birthday & their 40th anniversary. I am a "almost 1st timer" myself, since my last cruise was over a decade ago on Carnival. This is our 1st Celebrity experience. I picked this particular cruise because 1) it was the best deal I could find - actually cheaper than Carnival, 2) I thought small ship size and a simple itinerary staggering sea day and port day would be good for elder 1st time cruisers. Overall: The cruise was perfect for my vacation purpose. I don't think my parents felt overwhelmed or lost. It was not too long or too short. We didn't feel like we had to do all kind of things and rush around. It was relaxing. Services were great everywhere and the MDR food was good, much better than I expected. The crowd: As expected, it's an older crowd. There are some younger people (late 20s to 30s is my guess), but no one was too crazy/obnoxious that I have encountered (there're one or two super intoxicated ones stumbling around). There weren't many young children either (I don't mind kids but it's also nice to not have to hear baby screaming, crying, or being ran over by strollers). Mood is causal - no one was really dressing up too formally. I do kind of like a formal night but understandably cruiselines are all moving away from it. The ship: It is an older ship but I thought it was well maintained. There were some signs of age such as blistering wood handrails or damaged elevator buttons were. But otherwise it's still a very elegant ship. Embarkation: 1st time sailing out of Fort Lauderdale. I drove down (1-way rental thru Avis) and took the free shuttle to pier. (TIP #1: if you are renting a 1-way, keep checking the prices because my rental went from almost $100 to $10 the week of. They needed cars badly and I guess I was their free transporter.) The port traffic was madhouse so plan ahead (unless you stay the night before nearby). There wasn't much of a line for CC guests. My only complaint is that I thought the special CC lunch was until 1:30pm. We were at the counter checking in at 12:50pm and was told it's over. Bummer. First impression of ship: definitely not as "wow" as the big ships. Entry through Deck 3 into the "lobby" which was a cramped space. They served bubbles, which was a nice touch. Room access: Immediate as of 1pm when we got on, which was great to drop off our carry-on bags before going to lunch at Oceanview Grille. Room attendant: Adonis was excellent & sweet. He made a point of introducing himself in the hallway and he knew us by names already. He did everything we requested - cannot say enough good things about our room attendant. Food/Restaurant: All things considered, it was excellent. We did not do any specialty dining, only ate at MDR & Oceanview Grille. Breakfast buffet in Oceanview Grille is the same daily, which can be boring for longer cruise. There were days we walked around longer to look for a good table for 3 but never felt too crowded in OG (FYI, temp. varied in that large space - we wanted a decent view without the heat of being baked in the sun). We only had "formal" lunch in MDR once but we ate there for dinner daily. Everything we had was great. Food services: We had Select Dining daily for dinner. I prebooked 6:30pm/6:45pm time slot daily but we ate later on several days. Never too much of a wait (15 minutes max) for table. We had 3 sets of waitstaff, but mostly dined with Nelson & his team. Very attentive & friendly services. Of course they also work at OG for causal dining, and they would wave and say hi and greet us by name. The lady at the omelet station remembered my name by Day 3. It's amazing how good they are at customer service. Drink services: I have the Premium Drink Package (given Classic for free, upgraded to Premium for $67), which I highly recommend for anyone who remotely drinks. I never had to worry about paying for extra. I had the chance to try different cocktails. I have unlimited access to water & nicer coffee. I never waited long for a drink. I didn't order from the same bar much, but for those who did, they would remember your drink choice. (TIP #2: Infusion is a small "bar" tucked away with the gelato spot. Great craft cocktails during limited time period, but perfect for showtime!) Activities/Entertainment: I have heard more than once on the ship where people complained they were bored (both elderly ladies). I was curious as to what would be considered not boring. In my opinion, cruise is for relaxation. I booked a room with balcony so I wouldn't mind hanging out in my room to chill/read/do nothing. Every day there were live music in all the lounges. The guitar solo with vocal, the string duo, and piano with vocal duo were all great - piano solo act was... a little off vocally. Every night we went to the show - they were all minor productions but were entertaining (magic, impersonation, comedian, female vocalist Savannah Smith, and an original musical production). We did silent disco once (offered twice), karaoke twice, bingo once and observed the newly wed game. We sat through an art auction just to check it out. We attended the complimentary galley kitchen tour which was fun. We stopped by the Officer Soiree and took picture with the Captain. There were also pool deck activities during the day but we didn't attend. There're DJ parties we skipped out on as well. So all the standard cruise activities were there but in a smaller scale. I do have to say this is not a late night party type cruise. Most days we retired back to the room by 11:30pm. There's little to do after midnight. Even casino was pretty dead by then, which is odd. Cruise Director Luigi did his job in my opinion. I guess some people just don't get his sense of humor. Casino: Small and did not stay open late. The busiest time is from 8pm to 10pm, probably because of the foot traffic to/from the show. Basic games were all there. Gym/Spa: took a quick look but didn't use it. Gym area was nice and big at the front of the ship. Not a bad spot to run on a treadmill if I must. Spa looked small and the prices were high for services. There were fitness classes on schedule but most required extra charges. Pool: I only used the main ones on Deck 10 on port days (4 hot tubs, 1 bigger/deeper salt water pool, 1 smaller/shallower "pool" for standing around), I didn't feel like fighting the crowd during sea days. I was able to really enjoy it the morning of Cozumel day. I was in the deep pool swimming laps by myself. Key West day we got back on ship earlier and I was able to get a lounger and chilled/napped and hopped into hot tub. They played music but I didn't find them to be too loud - who wants a silent pool anyhow? Port #1 - Cozumel: I booked a private taxi before the trip online on my own. I recommend Tours Plaza as it's a good price for 3 of us ($142 for 11:30am to 4pm). The best part is we had our own car, we could do whatever we wanted at the pace we wanted. I enjoyed the tour around the island, I think it's worth doing at least once. We tasted chocolate & tequila. We ate lunch at Punta Moreno. We stopped and took pictures on the Wild Side. Port #2 - Key West: I opted out of Conch Train Tour/Trolley Tour, but it's cheaper to book those onboard/through cruiseline if you want to do them. Instead we took the free Duval Loop shuttle provided by the city transit (TIP #3 - use the free shuttle, they have real time schedule on their website via your cellphone). It was a hot day in Key West, we did the standard Mile 0, Southern Most Point, Sloppy Joe's, Conch Fritters in a loop slowly. We go off boat at 11am and got back at around 3pm. Immigration interview: We had to pay a visit with the immigration officers when we arrived in Key West. The process started before 8am, and I was surprised the intercom blasted inside the stateroom that early. We were in Group 24, meaning I really could have slept for another 45 minutes to an hour if they kept the announcement in public areas only (which was supposed to be the case per the newsletter). The process was quick even though it looked horrible with the long line wrapped around half the length of the boat. Disembarkation: Because the cruise already stopped in Key West the day before & we did the immigration interview already, it was an easy peasy process when we got back to Fort Lauderdale. We woke up at 6ish, got breakfast, and the moment they said we could leave the ship, we grabbed our bags and left. No line. We breezed right through to the taxi line. Taxi was $14 (no traffic). We got to airport and were at the gate in less than an hour of disembarkation. I don't know if we were just lucky or if I was that efficient. Last words: The cruise was a success. For what I paid and what I got in return, it was a great value. My parents enjoyed themselves, and that's what I care most. I think there are people who just never happy about anything - seriously it's a cruise vacation, why would anyone complain about eggs/being bored/what the cruise director was wearing etc? Give this older/smaller ship a try - it is a good starter cruise especially for a 5-nighter. Read Less

I chose this cruise for the ships visit to Key West. Everything was perfect I travelled with my sister in concierge class. Cabin was outstanding and cabin attendant truly happy to help. Food was so delicious don’t think anyone would be disappointed. So many choices although we did not chose any of the paid restaurants on offer. I think the entertainment could have been improved slightly. We enjoyed the comedian. Very refreshing not to be pestered for constant up selling this is becoming annoying on other cruises. Favourite place has to be the thassolotherepy pool. This area on the ship is perfect for an early morning dip and female only sauna. After take a light breakfast at the spa cafe situated alongside. We did try the gym another good facility. Relax at the outdoor theatre and watch a movie whilst having a drink. The spa treatments are a little on the expensive side. Embarkation: Celebrity has now assigned times for check-in based on cabin location. As a result, embarkation was extremely easy. The entire process took less than thirty minutes from the time we arrived at the pier until we were in our cabin. Ships Condition: The Infinity is an old vessel. The exterior is so deteriorated that Royal Caribbean should be ashamed to continue marketing the ship. There is evidence of rust and paint over rust on the exterior decks and balconies. The wooden hand rails in some areas have rotted and have been hastily patched. I am concerned about the workings of life boat davits, anchor windless, and other machinery. Having said this, the interior of the ship has been well maintained. Bright work is polished; carpeting is clean, and most public areas are in good shape. The Infinity is scheduled for a major overhaul in 2020. It can’t come soon enough! Cabin: We were in a balcony cabin on the 7th deck. Although smaller than we have had on other cruise ships, there was adequate space for storage. The room was convenient to both the aft and midship elevators. There was no appreciable noise and the cabin was well maintained. The bathroom was larger than most cruise ships, especially there shower. Our stateroom attendant, Anthony, was excellent and kept our room neat and tidy. Well done! Entertainment: The ship’s entertainment steadily improved during the cruise. Both the production shows and the guest entertainers toward the second half of the cruise were very enjoyable. We were always able to find seats in the theater. The sight lines were excellent in the venue. Internet: The shipboard Internet was painfully slow. When one is buying minutes instead of days, the frustration level increases exponentially. Discussed this with the Internet Officer. He offered no explanation. I heard many complaints from other guests as well. It might be better to offer internet packages by day rather than by minutes similar to Royal Caribbean ships. With slow internet a guest can burn minutes waiting for slow downloads. Tendering: In Cabo San Lucas we were required to tender to the port. What began as an orderly process, became an unmitigated disaster. Guests with excursions were to be the first in the boats. Elite and Elite Plus guests were supposed to have a dedicated boat. As we arrived at the departure point on the 1st deck, there was nothing but mass confusion. All guests we’re herded together without rhyme or reason. The last tender was supposed to leave the port at 3:30 PM. By 4 o’clock there were still four tender boats lined up to off-load passengers. Celebrity has to managed their tender operation more efficient. Fitness Center: The fitness center has adequate cardiovascular equipment as well as a number of weight machines. Since I go early in the day, there has never been a time where all machines are being used. There is a time limit of 20 minutes on the machines when guests are waiting. No one enforces the time limits however. Dress Code: The ship has a dress code (no shorts in the dining room for evening meals, no bathrobes in the buffet, no shorts in certain cocktail lounges in the evening, etc). However, the code in not consistently enforced. I saw a man turned away for wearing a robe in the buffet while another was allowed to eat in a robe on a different day. In the main dining room a woman wearing short shorts was permitted to eat during the evening hours. Rules are no issue as long as they are consistently enforced . Food: I have eaten in the Oceanside Cafe, the main dining room, and the Tuscan Grill. The food in all three restaurants has been wonderful; well above typical cruise ship fare. My only suggestion is a menu expansion in the main dining room as there are too few choices. The hamburger grill near the pool is very good as well. The pizza is tasty with a thin crust that also exceeds the norm. Service: Our cabin steward, Anthony, was the best we have ever had on a cruise ship. Our cabin was tidied up twice a day with fresh towels, soaps, etc. A wonderful unassuming man who was a pleasure to be around. While service in the Oceanside Cafe has been reduced, guests do not seem too bothered by it. Service in the main dining room was very good during all the meals we had there. Our primary waiter, Benjamin, was very efficient and attentive. Enrichment: Were it not for Bill Fall, the Celebrity enrichment program was pathetic. Mr. Fall salved the day with several excellent presentations on the Panama Canal as well as some of the ports we were scheduled to visit. His commentary during the Panama Canal transit was informative and well documented. He is one of the best I have ever heard. Cruise Director: The cruise director, Luigi, was substandard in my opinion. His presentations were annoying at times. His “I can’t hear you” every night after the entertainment was sophomoric at best. I have cruised for years and Luigi was one of the worst. Again, just a personal opinion, but I have over 30 cruise directors to compare. Debarkation: We experienced a very efficient debarkation in Fort Lauderdale. We carried our luggage off the ship. From the time we left the ship until we reached the taxi stains took around 15 minutes. Cab to the airport was quick and cost $20. Read Less

The cabin was a little small compared to other cruises, but that is the only negative. The staff, the food, the entertainment all weregreat. There are times when it was hard to find a seat in the buffet area. The only real negative, which is a problem on all ships was the seat hogs at the pools. It might help if there was a towel person to remove towels from chair that haven’t been used for awhile. We watch many couples hold several chairs 2 in the sun, 2 in the shade. One other problem was the smoking areas were set up in very odd areas. If you weren’t a smoker you got to smell second hand smoke while sitting along the pool. Chicken was dry and beef was tough. desserts were even worse, tasted only sugar and flour. The foyer was so small with curtains around, only a few people can see the game and performance. the dinning room and theater is really grand, but the food was bad and the shows were not impressive. the swimming pool is small, but there are many lounge chairs. I fell on the pool deck, they don't swipe away puddle of water. All of the "enrichment activities" are for a fee. we were upgraded from inside guarantee to ocean view, which is nice. the size of the state room is 170 sq ft., larger than most of the cruise ship. We had done the Panama Canal cruise about 10 years ago, and felt the need to see the wondrous Canal again—especially since there were some ports on this cruise we’d not visited before. Overall, Infinity did a good job of embarkation, disembarkation, port visits (including tendering) and offering comprehensive narration of the cruise through the canal. Everything went very smoothly, and staff was very courteous and friendly. Food on the cruise was below the standard we’ve enjoyed on previous Celebrity cruises. The Oceanview Cafe buffet and offerings for breakfast and lunch were fine, but the quality and variety in the main dining room was uneven from night to night as was the table service. Just a few nights into the cruise, we were handed a dinner menu that was the same as previous. And many of the usual items we’ve come to enjoy (e.g., osso buco, duck, tuna) were missing—cost cutting?). And whatever happened to waiters welcoming your arrival to the table, helping the lady to her seat and spreading a napkin? Do we now need to go to Specialty restaurants for that? On a positive note, the entertainment was excellent—very good musicians in all the lounges, and very good musicians and acts in the theatre. We were happy that there were far fewer of the usual, canned “singers and dancers” performances, and more outside, original talent. The bad news was very poor drink service in some of the lounges and at the bars—few waiters and very long waiting time for service. Some passengers suggested that the cruise line is making it harder for the many people with drink packages to maximize the value of their package. We had terrific service for our very clean balcony cabin, and all the cabin attendants were friendly, fast and efficient. The iLounge was well-staffed and friendly as well, as was the Gym and Spa areas. Infinity is the oldest Celebrity ship and, while it still has a lot of good nautical miles to go, it does need work. The furnishings were fine, but we found loose railings and planks in various places, sewer odors and multiple signs of sloppy repair work (e.g., paint on our balcony windows, sloppy cauking, etc.). We are on Princes Cruise lines most of the time,but our travel agent gave us a special deal on Celebrity. I won't give away the particulars but is was a special up grade. The room was a little smaller than we where use too, but it was neat and clean. We had a problem with a lumpy bed but our steward placed a foam cover and it worked perfect. The ship was older but the charm was still present and the staff was most helpful. The dinning room was well presented and the waiters where very attentive. The food was on par with cruise ships but taste and selection was above the normal. I would only recommend one special dinning and that is the Qsine.It is a experience you will remember the rest of your days. Special thanks goes out to our Steward Courtney did a great job. Spent three days in Vancouver prior to the cruise. Embarkation was a nightmare, long queues. Carried our own bags when leaving therefore disembarkation went smoothly. The ship is tired looking, cabin was clean although the curtains, bed valance were torn. Bathroom had a musty smell which was sorted by our cleaner. Dining room was fine, great service and food was ok, ate here for breakfast and evening meal. The OceanView was a nightmare, queues, no room to eat, tables were not vacated and not asked to move even though there were signs. People were having to eat standing up. On the plus side, the cleaning and dining room staff were excellent. Entertainment wasn't brilliant, enjoyed the lectures. Port excursions were ok, I found all three ports very similar and boring. Enjoyed Hubbard glacier very much. In my opinion the company is only interested in taking as much money off passengers as everything seemed to cost extra I will not cruise with Celebrity again. We had a couple of nights in Vancouver before and several more after our cruise which helped break up the trip and allow us to see the sights. A great place to visit. Lots going on. The cruise let us wind down and relax, joining in activities as we wanted. The naturalist, Milos, was quite inspiring but informative in his talks and always amusing. All staff were unfailingly welcoming and chatty, expressing an interest in your day and offering their own suggestions. The food was always of the highest quality, even in the enormous self service Ocean View restaurant with a great variety of cuisines. We also ate in the more formal atmosphere of the Trellis restaurant which was also delightful invoking an air of a grand restaurant. There were many activities and shows and my advice, as a first time cruiser, would be to note what interested you from the daily program and get involved, or not, because the entertainment was extremely good. But there are so many lounges, bars and cafes around the boat that there was always somewhere to rest quietly if you wanted. We visited Icy Strait Point and loved the involvement with the local community. Ketchikan and Juneau were old style fishing towns with plenty to interest. Visit the Red Dog Saloon for a great atmosphere and fun. We didn't go whale watching but had many sightings while at sea from the Constellation Lounge. We were blessed with clear skies and smooth waters through the week and had an awesome time close to the glacier as the captain positioned us as close as he could. Couldn't have had a better view. We boarded in San Diego after arriving a day early and staying at the Hotel across the street. The ship didn't arrive until noon as we watched people with baggage arriving at the the cruise terminal from 9 am on. Thanks to the Hotel they let us stay in the room until 1 pm. We took a hotel bus over to the cruise terminal and proceeded to enter the stuffed terminal and continued to walk through looking for information about getting on to the ship. We finally made it about half way through the Terminal and we were stopped and told we need a card to continue from here. We were sent back to the entrance to get a card where we were told that they ran out of cards. After 3 hours we followed a group going on and agreed that we were part of the group. We have sailed with Norwegian, Holland America, Princess, Royal Caribbean and even Carnival. Celebrity Infinity has won hands down at doing the best job of screwing up the boarding. Interesting we did the Panama cruise with Princess about 3 years before and have to say that Celebrity Infinity even screwed up the departure in Ft. Lauderdale, Florida. The food on this ship was even below the class of food on Norwegian cruises. We had any time dinning and could only make reservations at 5 pm or 8:30 pm as they always said that all the reservations were taken from 5:30 to 8:30. We finally got smart and would go down at any time. The rooms were clean and our cabin Stewart did an outstanding job and even fold our cloths. The main disaster on this cruise was that a number of people were reported sick and confined to their room wit broth and a little white pill. The staff went about serving all the food and providing us with disinfecting grease at all points on the ship. The treatments of disinfectant and services only the staff seemed to be working until we arrived home. I have inherited the the cough that so many had on this cruise. My wife and I are in our early 70's and feel that if we have to be sick after a cruise that maybe we should stop cruising. We got off the ship on Wednesday and I started coughing as we left the ship and have continued to do it even now on Sunday May 6/18. Both of us feel totally whipped and spend a good percentage of our time running to the john. The entertainment was as good as any other cruise that I have been on. I believe that this ship is contaminated with sickness and would recommend it to even my enemies. Looking at earlier reviews of this ship it appears that those cruising in March experienced much of the same problems. This ship just spent 2 weeks in dry dock; why was it not cleaned up then? It was a great way to get home from Chile! Certainly better than flying. Smile! We were Aqua class, which enabled the use of the BLU restaurant. We certainly enjoyed that restaurant, not only for the selection of food, but the quiet atmosphere. The team serving us, led by Marcel, deserves recognition for extra ordinary fine service. If traveling on Infinity, we would select Aqua Class again. The ports of call are interesting in that they served areas that we would have overlooked, like Arica and Pisco. We were not impressed with Manta. Lima and Panama Canal are obvious stops. The ship went into dry dock after our cruise for a much needed facelift. They were having engine problems that needed attention. As an Elite status Travelor, they offer a complimentary happy hour from 5-7 pm each night. Unfortunately, there were over a third of the guests who enjoyed that status, and the Constellation lounge simply could not hold us all. They elected to give us redeemable tickets for three drinks a night in any lounge, which was a very good solution. That allowed us to join our non elite guests traveling with us. Thank You Celebrity. The only misstep was a time zone change BEFORE arriving in Grand Cayman, putting the ship on the wrong time zone in Grand Cayman. This led to much confusion for both the guests as well as tour operators. Read Less

We usually cruise with Royal Carribean, but this itinerary appealed to us as a way back from a South America trip, so we decided to see what Modern Luxury is all about while wearing our Diamond Plus Royal Caribbean goggles. We have four previous cruises with Celebrity, the first ten years ago, and we thought we knew what to expect. EMBARKATION: Embarkation in San Antonio, Chile, was interesting. It is a commercial port trying to be a cruise terminal. After an hour and a half bus ride from the Santiago airport and checking in at a warehouse near the edge of the port, we were loaded onto yet another bus for a ride to the ship at the dock. We’ve seen better and we’ve seen worse, so we just went with the flow. We were in our cabin by 1:30 PM and our bags were delivered around 4:00 PM. CABIN: The cabin, 7049, was clean and comfortable. With more storage space than we needed – a first. Situated next to the hump cabins, we had an extra large, shaded balcony. The balcony door did not have a handle on the outside, just a slot to grab and pull the door open. The door was hard to open without a handle, but since it was designed that way, we lived with it. The toilet decided not to work in the middle of the night 4 out of the 15 nights on the cruise. Guest Relations said it was a known issue and they were working on it. CREW: Every crew member we encountered was smiling and said good morning or good evening – from restroom attendants to senior officers. Wait staff were attentive and efficient. Whomever is in charge of setting up disembarkation for port days did not do such a good job in Manta - more on that later. DINING: Oceanview Cafe – We disliked the Oceanview Café because it is so crowded with people wandering around trying to assemble a meal that it’s like the “Zombie Apocalypse” - as one fellow passenger described it. There is no clear delineation of flow for the serving lines and people just butt in where they please. We avoided eating meals there. When we did stop in for a snack, we noticed that the wooden chairs needed a good cleaning – there was so much dirt crusted on the back of one chair that I scraped some off to show one of the supervisors and merely received a shrug in response. MDR – We used the MDR for a few breakfasts and lunches just to steer clear of the buffet. A table for two may as well be a table for four, six, eight, or more since they are jammed together so closely that one cannot walk between the table. Service was good and the menu selections standard. We also ate some breakfasts and lunches in the Solarium Café, where it was easy to get a table and the selections were more healthful than other venues. The MDR in the evening was not at all pleasant and we only dined there on 10 of the 15 nights, opting for specialty dining on the other five evenings. The tables are very close and the other diners, probably deaf from the over-amplified music venues, seemed to shout their conversations during the meal. Shouting waiters added to the din. Not at all a pleasant atmosphere. The food, however was very good, well presented, and right-sized portions. Had the food not been so good, we would have avoided the MDR in the evenings because of the noise levels. Specialty dining – We ate in Qsine only once. The Qsine food was delicious but the menu on the electronic tablets was hard to understand and the waiter did little to help explain what was an appetizer and what was a main. Give me a regular menu. Sushi on 5 was wonderful, with a very attentive waiter and a wide variety of sushi to choose from. The Tuscan Grill was our favorite and we ate three evening meals there, and enjoyed a light morning breakfast and specialty coffee drinks there on most mornings. We enjoyed the atmosphere and service of the Specialty Dining venues, especially when compared to the MDR and Oceanview. ENTERTAINMENT: Since this varies from ship to ship, I won’t go into detail. The production shows were very good – but too over-amplified to be pleasant. Earplugs helped. The guest entertainers were also very good and not quite as over-amplified. PORTS: We booked the cruise primarily as transportation back from a land tour in South America, and not for the ports of call. We did walk around in Arica, Chile, and Georgetown, Grand Cayman, but did not book any excursions. The stop in Manta, however, is worth noting. Having been there before, we were undecided about going into town for a look around. The ship announced that free shuttle buses would be provided from the ship to the town center/shopping area. After the announcement was made that the gangway was open, we went down to the promenade deck to see how long the line for the shuttles was and determine if we should wait a while. There was no line – only a large mob of approximately 250-300 people waiting for the yet-to-appear shuttle buses. Celebrity did nothing to establish or control a line. When the first shuttle bus arrived, the mob surged and all 300 people tried to get on the first bus. We saw a fight breakout at the steps to the bus and one man trying to pull another man off the second step of the bus. At that point I ran down to Guest Relations and told them they needed to get security out there and that one fight had already broken out. I went back outside to the promenade to watch the most unorganized shuttle bus system I had ever witnessed. We decided to avoid the melee and have a peaceful day on the ship. One would think that Celebrity had never organized a port day or a shuttle bus system before. It was certainly a poor example of Modern Luxury. CHAIR HOGS: The Infinity made a feeble attempt to cut down on chair hogs with a few little folded placards placed on the pool and solarium loungers in the mornings, however with no enforcement, the chair hogs just pushed the placards aside and set up camp. I witnessed chair hogs “reserving” loungers and sunbeds as early as 6:00 AM, using a variety of towels, flip flops, magazines, paperbacks, and large plastic clips to hold the towels in place. Often those same loungers were “reserved” hours later – and on port days “reserved” all day long until the hogs returned from their excursions. Not once did I see any of the pool staff removing the chair hog nests. With no enforcement in place, more and more people started “reserving” loungers and sunbeds. Another poor example of Modern Luxury. DISEMBARKATION: Disembarkation from the ship in Fort Lauderdale was well organized, until we reached the Customs and Immigration lines. There were four agents to process some 2,100 passengers. Signs for “US and non-US” were not apparent and there was insufficient line management so that yet another mob formed adjacent to the bag retrieval area. We settled down in some chairs to wait out the mob, and only later discovered the mob was trying to get through the “Non-US” lines and the “US” line was almost empty. We gathered our bags and were through the immigration check in under 10 minutes – happily leaving the growing “Non-US” mob to be processed by only two agents. No wonder the Fort Lauderdale port has such a bad reputation on Cruise Critic. CONCLUSION: After watching Royal Caribbean turn into floating county fairs, and with Celebrity losing their “premium” luster to the mass market, it’s time to expand our horizons and find cruise lines that cater to grownups and offer a more genteel way to cruise. The Panama Canal cruise with South American ports of call ticked most of the group's boxes. The ship's facilities were excellent as were the entertainment on sailing days and evening theatre. The state room cabins were excelent and were perfectly serviced by the cabin steward. The stand out service on the ship was the evening dining in the Trellis Restaurant. We were provided with a group table for 10 persons and were attended too excelently by a waiter, assistant waiter and sommellier every evening that we dined in the restuarant. The shore excursions were excellent with well trained guides in attendance. The shore excursion to Manta was not to the same standard as the other excursions. Unfortunately, what could have been a 5 star cruise and matching survey was really let down by the chaotic embarkation at San Antonio, Chile and the even more chaotic disembarkation at Port Lauderdale where most of the ship's passengers were kept in line for over 3.5 hours waiting for US Border control to allow entry. Passengers were not allowed to use the Constellation Lounge on sea days and some port days in the daylight hours. It was reserved by Park West to sell paintings. There were no other locations on the boat to sit in front and view the cruise, unless I went to sit on the Rooftop Terrace in the full sun and get a sunburn. The Captains Club Celebration was held in the dark on the Rooftop Terrace because Park West reserved the Constellation Lounge. The handicapped elevator had not been maintained for over 2 years. The elevator broke down when the staff tried to help my wife get down off the Rooftop Terrace. She was forced to use the stairs and injure her leg. This cause us to limit our tours and I was not able to attend the Rio Carnival Tour which was the main reason that I selected this cruise. When the handicapped elevator broke your staff sent for electricians to fix it. My wife asked for me to go to the show and save her a seat. After I was in the theater for 30 minutes I went to the 3rd Floor Customer Relations Desk to see if they could page my wife or call their staff on the Rooftop Terrace. They refused and asked me to fill out a Missing Person Report before they would get Security to look for her. Then they insisted for me to wait in my room with a Security Guard outside my door. After another 15 minutes I left my room and started searching the ship with the Security Guard running after me. We finally found her in the theater where she asked me to meet her. Her leg was giving her a lot of pain and we had to get a wheelchair for the trip. They refused to have the Ship's doctor look at her leg unless we paid for his services. They wanted to sell her pain medication. We have our own medications for most emergencies. Read Less

We love Celebrity. Had an amazing back to back trip to Rio then Antarctica. We were so lucky with the weather going to Cape Horn, Antarctica and Falkland Islands. It was warmer than Scotland. The whole crew were just brilliant and the captain was very visible and charming. He did a great job getting us to these places. We miss Hari making up our room and all the lovely staff who served us in Blu. Infinity is a great sized ship to be on. Great having the inside thermal pool when weather was cooler. Entertainment was great especially the ships showtime, loved the music, costumes and singing and dancing, beat we’ve seen on any ship. Infinity orchestra was superb, wouldn’t be the same without them. Worth every penny and more! Mickeylive was entertaining and informative always busy in the theatre. Guest artists also very good, variety from magic, instrumental and singing and comedy. We went every night. Waiters in Blu were so polite and attentive. Especially Edurdo, my husband says he’s the nicest waiter he’s ever come across . Rosibel greeting us always knew our name and cabin number, Igor in cellars bar was great at bar showmanship and made great cocktails. Cape Horn on catamaran and National Park was really interesting cruising Antarctica was amazing with mickeylive doing commentary about wild life. Even a rainbow. And luckily we got into Falkland Islands to the Battlefield tour. Very good guide then got shuttle to Gypsy Cove to see penguins.great day. Montevideo city tour was interesting as was our Tygre river cruise then to airport. We didn’t have to bother with cases till airport which was very convenient. Lovely guide Andriana?
