The cruise was an amazing adventure - from the cities of Cape Town, Colombo & Singapore to island countries of Seychelles & Maldives, being able to see 4 of the Big 5 (elephant, African buffalo, rhino, lion & leopard - only one we didn't see was the leopard). Some amazing sights in the various ports - giant turtles of the Seychelles, the submarine ride in the Maldives, Freddy Mercury's birthplace in Zanzibar, the beautiful Buddhist temple in Colombo, among others. Singapore is beautiful. But we traveled over 8000 miles on a ship that was 20 years old & had been refurbished (i.e., changed the colors of the interior) 4 times. It was small & cramped. Internet service was terrible (e.g., no internet service in any of the restaurants or the buffet; logging in all the time, as only one device per cabin could be on at one time). Embarkation was a struggle - we had taken the pre-cruise excursion to Victoria Falls & Chobe National Park (highly recommend this excursion!). However, the trip back from this excursion included 2 air flights (Vic Falls --> Johannesburg --> Cape Town) with a 2-hour layover in Johannesburg to pick up luggage. By the time we got to the ship, it was 9 pm & the crew wasn't ready for us! No food (you can order room service), a struggle to get our luggage to our cabins, and a surprised attitude from the crew. To top it off, most of us had an early morning Cape Town excursion. So, between getting settled in our cramped (~215 sq foot) cabin, the long day of travel, and the time it took to be on-boarded, we didn't get to bed until midnight. UGH! Even though it's a 30-day cruise, pack light!!! The closet space is non-existent, very little space. Laundry was on our level but was constantly busy. The machines took tokens, which were sold out (how does that work?), so toward the end of the cruise, it was a crap-shoot as to whether you can launder your clothes. Also, best to use laundry on port days - everybody used the laundry on sea days. Onboard entertainment was OK; the shows in the evening were ehhh. There were enough activities onboard to keep most people busy. I liked the 4 pm tea service - nice selection of pastries to go with the teas. Food was pretty good. We usually ate at the buffet - it had plenty of variety as well a few standards. Loved the bread selection. The specialty restaurants were good, but had a fixed menu that didn't change over the entire cruise. Service was very good - everyone was nice, considerate and willing to assist you. The shore excursions, with a couple of exceptions, were top-notch. Overall, it was an enjoyable voyage, if only because we got to share with my wife's sisters & brothers-in-law. Read Less

Staff, Cruise Director, Chefs, food and service absolutely first rate, and not just for a few days...it was 35 days of pampering. FANTASTIC... keep it up Oceania. CONS: The drinks were pricey, but we could have picked a drink package. Casino was very quiet slots extremely tight, but Manager explained Oceania has just taken contract back from previous independent operator and will be making improvements and changes... PROS: Superb food in all venues. Best shellfish and steaks at sea without question. Most nights a local or specialty offering available on top of regular menus. All desserts and home baked breads delicious. Service was tops. Bar, room, cabin, butlers, restaurants.... always a smile and a greeting, day after day... a happy and delightful team working connected by pride in their work. SUPERB Entertainment good, stand outs : the Bellissimo Quartet with classical strings, then did a wild rock show on strings too!! Cruise director, John E. With his own hilarious show, also extra crew shows such as Beat the Chef , party undet the stars in Seychelles. Clever, fun and innovative fresh ideas. Great team No more to say... back with Nautica, next we go! Read Less

This was our 3rd time with msc and have never been impressed with them, but chose this cruise for the itinerary It is a very nice ship but the organisation is abismal, lack of communication, public areas not very clean, toilets often dirty and no toilet paper.Poor choice of food, small portions and overall not very good. If you are using the public toilets make sure you there is toilet paper in there! ! The cabin was small but OK, the cabin steward was excellent, nothing was too much trouble, he was very polite. He kept the cabin spotlessly clean. Embarkation was chaotic and that is putting it mildly.Queues in the reception .We area were always long and slow moving. We were very lucky to have an excellent waiter in the the restaurant but not everyone was so lucky. There is an obvious lack of training in the staff. If all staff were adequately trained it would make a big difference. Definitely will not go by Msc again. Read Less

We had a wonderful time aboard the Musica. All the staff from cleaning yo management were friendly, helpful and made us feel at home. Our cabin was cosy and regulary cleaned for us. The ship overall is huge with plenty of activities to prevent anyone from becoming bored. We mostly enjoyed the live music in the lounges and the theatre every night. The food was top notch, one didnt have the time to get hungry because there was always something to nibble between meal times and all meals were of excellent quality. My family and i are already looking forward to our next MSC cruise in the upcoming months . Embarkation took about just over two hours, which was a bit long but thats probably due to the volume of people getting off and on the ship. Well done MSC. Keep up the good work and see you soon :) :) Read Less

My husband and I enjoyed getting away together, leaving the teenagers at home and having time to spend reconnecting after a difficult year. We had booked Easy Onboard and this made embankment easy. I am visually impaired and found that I was constantly offered assistance by staff experienced in giving aid with dignity. The staff was fantastic, friendly and helpful. We enjoyed visiting Swakopmund for an all too brief visit. The desert is beautiful and the German ambience of Swakopmund was charming. We spent much of our time on our balcony watching the sea and enjoying the sun and sunsets. It was sheltered from the wind and very comfortable. The piano, jazz music and vocalists in the bars enhanced the experience. We enjoyed a day at the Spa, relaxing in the thermal area and enjoying a massage and facial. Gale force winds meant our cruise was extended a few days waiting for the harbor master to allow us to dock. Even in these difficult circumstances the staff remained cheerful and kind and the entertainment continued. During this time we soaked in the beautiful sight of Table Mountain, Sea Point and Camps Bay. We plan to cruise again next year. Read Less

Wanted to experience the Musica compared to others. Disembarkment in CT was a disasteras there was no discipline and people left the ship even though they were expected to wait.People smoke in non smoker areas with a sign above her head in the casino and they take drinks inti the theatre and nobody does anything,so instilling discipline of officials is zero.No Italian dress up evening as they dont want to offend people .Nonsense it has always been a choice but it was nice just to wear Red ,Green and White. Children in jacuzzis ( outside school holidays) and then adults cant get a chance .Children of 3 and 5 unattended in jacuzzi.Father is 15m away.MSC needs to instill discipline to make it pleasant for all. Deck entertainment needs a mature person from RSA to head up the entertainment. This year juniors who had no clue ran the games and a Italian who does not South Africans.. Besides these negatives the service was excellent and so was the food.Reception ,dining and bars were a pleasure to attend. MSC Voyager help desk attendee had no interest in helping. Dissappointed in his attitude. I asked him what specials are they talking about for members and he said .Read the daily program which has nothing to do with it.SPECIAL mention: Prisco Fernandes,Thobeka Ntshangase and Carmine Di Fiore in dining room,Vanmali Sandeep in watch store;eddiesen Lobo in barand Stella Andriambelo cabin stewart. NOTHING was too much trouble for them. RECOMMENDATION : You must lie in the International waters for a day and only enter the harnbour the next morning as the view of Table Mountain in the morning and at night with Robben Eiland on the other side is breathtaking and worth paying extra for.Best part of our trip. You must buy Easy on board as it takes you 15 min no matter when you arrive. Entertainment made me ho lounge hopping. The lead singer in theater....Emanuel is fantastic. But his parterner just dont compliment him. Our excursions to Swakopmund was great just needed more time in Swakopmund. The food in Buffet Lounge is out of this world and the midnight feast is the best ever. Not being able to dock.... the personnel put their own dissapointment behind them making sure we are comfortable serving us with a smile. I can only say thank you too MSC Musica crew for the time of my life! And thank you to Francesco who made dining unforgetable. Anil made sure we will miss his friendly service back on land. Our cabin attend in cabin 10059 was outstanding as well. Entertainment was good but feel they could have had more shows or movies in the Theatre during the day. The shows every night before dinner were great and the entertainment outside on deck was excellent. All staff were friendly and always greeted. Thank you for informing us about the seniors discount. I had a couple of questions /queries before we sailed and I always got a positive response. We couldn't dock on return because of wind so had an extra two days on board with a magnificent view of table mountain. The staff went out of their way to keep us informed and entertained And one has to mention Marco, for his entertainment and allways bringing a smile to our faces. My friend and I decide to go on a cruise for my 60th birthday, she never been on a cruise thus a new experience for her. On our arrival our cabin was clean and ready for us to occupy. Everything was clean and nothing to really complaint about everything was to our satisfaction. The food was good and even thou we stayed two days on board longer because of the weather that did not allow us to dock at Cape Town port the crew make great food with what was available. Most of the crew was very friendly and what stand out are the people servicing us during dinner and after dinner coffee. Phila Khamrang was very friendly and her service excellent, with her our food servicer Putu Darsana was very kind and helpful; both were very friendly and kind. Most of the personal in the dinner room was professional and friendly. The lady that served us our after dinner coffee was the best Tanuj Deeno and is excellent in what she is doing. We made some awesome friends and had a fantastic time. The music was a blast and we went to the disco and it was really like the old age home coming out and we all had so much fun with the most awesome music. We loved all the shows not one stands out as they were all of a very good quality and very entertaining. During our extra stay everyone was very helpful explaining the situation not being able to go into the port and was very professional in helping us all with travel arrangements etc. I love eating in the dining room we were seated at table 516 and had an awesome time. The food was tasty and the portions sensible size. The 24 hour dining facility was not really to our liking the coffee taste horrible but if one thinks how many people go through constantly the fast foods was hot and available. I found the duty free shops to be extremely expensive but I travel a lot and it seems duty free is more expensive these days maybe because people think it should be cheaper. The day tour to Swakopmund was very over priced for that price they could have supply the passengers a light meal, we only had a hour in Swakopmund and was nearly late - we went out late. For cost they could make it a day tour. Overall Wonderful Cruise!! Read Less

I wanted the experience of sailing into Walvis Bay and seeing desert meet ocean. The day trip was perfect 4x4 adventure. The cruise sailed out of Cape Town ..spectacular views from verandah cabin. Heavy fog made 2nd night interesting with vessels horn blasting into the night. Strong headwinds gave us some rough cruising on way back to Cape Town. We had delays getting back into the harbour due to the howling Southeaster but the 2 days extra at sea was handled well by the crew. MSC MUSICA is a large vessel so long queues at all times. Deck space limited. The Restuarants were honestly a disaster and waiters way out of their depth. I gave up and decided to order room service instead. Two dishes for $5 plus service not bad. Ate in the peace of my cabin and able to keep abreast of news on TV. Loved the spa package giving me full access and two treatments. Booked pre boarding and saved. Read Less

I struggle to say something positive about my 12 day cruise. Embarkation should have warned us what to expect,3 and a half hours in a filthy smelly derelict warehouse with no water or toilets and NO MSC STAFF The staff are demotivated and disorganised very few taking any pride in their work No one listened to anything you asked or said The ship is just waiting for a outbreak of norovirus There was a pile of vomit on the floor staff ignored it for over half an hour No hygiene standards,no hand cleaner at dining areas until the final day Toilets often dirty and floors wet no toilet attendants and often not even toilet paper We left Capetown with virtually no South African wine the food was very poor quality and some of the waiting staff actually apologised for what they were serving When we complained about the standard of cleaning and food we were told by guest relations that the S.A. guests have much lower standards than British which I found really insulting as I am half South African. We have done back to back cruises on other lines and have never had exactly the same menu( which wasn't good the first time),and the same entertainment (which we did enjoy the first time, not so much the second and third) repeated. This was 3 4 day back to back cruises so we had the same meals and entertainment 3 times in 12 days it was like having a recurrent nightmare Read Less

Ship was top notch but passenger atmosphere was lacking. Cruise dedicated to older seniors and ship was more like a retirement village with the entertainment to suit this demographic. Definitely not suited to a single traveler even though I am older. Things did improve when Australians embarked in Fremantle. I did not eat at the Brittanica Restaurant because I prefer to eat when I feel like it and not be constrained by set timing. Food at the Lido was was below par and a table very difficult to find. If I waited until the show was on, it was less crowded but the food was limited and very dry. My cabin was excellent, very roomy and clean and the tea and coffee making facilities were really appreciated. All staff on the ship were courteous and helpful. The shuttle buses in the ports were also appreciated. I spent most of my time in the cabin because activities were couples orientated so I did watch a lot of television with the shows being constantly repeated. Cruise did not live up to the cost and hype. Read Less

Chose this cruise as it meant i did not have to fly home after visiting South Africa. Embarkation was very good in Capetown, Cabin seemed a bit smaller than other lines (balcony). Very impressed with all the seating areas that were available and they were not closed for half the day.for art auctions. Did expect a bigger menu range at the dining room, and did find the gravy on what seemed all the food quite annoying. The waiter did sort this out by the 2nd night and from then on all sauces and gravy were served separately on the side. The dining staff were extremely helpful and were definitely above average as was our cabin steward. The entertainment was very mediocre and there were very few lectures that I bothered to go and see, and evening shows I avoided all together, although my partner did say that there were a couple of performers that were outstanding. I did like the kettle in your state room this was so good if you woke up early and did not want to go to the lido for an early cuppa I always carry my own jar of coffee so only had to ensure that I had some milk in the fridge, only tried one cocktail on this cruise mostly due to the high prices of alcohol, but fruit juices available 24 hours a day. Only did one Cunard tour off the ship in Mauritius, the tour itself was good but the guide was a little confused and instructions were not very clear and for what was involved was quite pricey. Visited the gym on two occasions when could not walk the decks like a lot of ships very limited space for the group classes good range of equipment but very crowded. Did find that a lot of the windows were very grubby, I know its a ship but on a different ship everytime we were in port they would be out cleaning the windows. All in all an interesting cruise and a good way to sample the Cunard experience, but for the price was just an average experience, in some respects Holland America, and other cruise lines I have been on match or in some areas were a better experience. Having cruised on MSC numerous times, both locally and internationally this cruise was way below the standard i have come to expect. Embarkation was a nightmare, as people queued outside the terminal with no direction from cruise staff and pushed and forced their way in terminal once the doors opened, which almost resulted in a stampede as well as a few curse words between passengers. We had also requested the first dinner seating which was confirmed on the cruse ticker=t, however on boarding we had been given a second seating, despite having booked over a year ago and being a Gold MSC voyagers member. Pool deck seems really cluttered and the design and bars on the ship are not the most appealing. On the last night of the cruise i awoke early hours in the morning in a wet bed due to the fire sprinkler leaking directly onto the bed. Cruise was mediocre at best... Read Less

This was my first cruise. It wasn’t well organised. On arrival nobody assisted us with anything. We were left to wonder the ship figuring things out for ourselves. Some things we only found out towards the end of the cruise. One of us fell ill on board, only to be informed they were sold out of meds. Sold out!? During the cruise dinner arrangements were really poor. Our designated table was taken and we had no seats. Nobody assisted and we weren’t permitted to use another table or restaurant. We were left to order (and pay for) room service and to use the specialty restaurant (and pay for that too). When asking reception for anything they were just plain rude and arrogant. Embarkation incolved standing in a queue for three hours watching buses of guests, presumably booked by travel agents, being given priority boarding. Yes we tried purchasing easy on board beforehand, only to be told they’re sold out. After a day, the cruise couldn’t be over quickly enough. This trip ruined cruises for us and we will never, ever do it again. Not even for free, it was that bad. Read Less

I chose MSC due to my great previous experiences with them. Their staff are so friendly and very efficient. I will always esteem MSC very highly to my clients and ensure their cruise will be magical. The dining and entertainment varieties were my highlight and not to mention the luxury of the balcony cabins. You will never regret booking with MSC they offer exceptional overall service for a 3* cruise ship. It was fantastic to experience a variety of cultures and cuisines. My only concern was their lack of security cameras in important guest areas like the bag drop department. This should be re-evaluated. Amazing crew, amazing staff. MSC delivers exactly what they promise, more than just a cruise. You feel like you are a VIP guest and you can enjoy your cruise carefree with all your needs taken care of. My Wife and I Love Listening to Heart 104.5 Radio. We heard about their Jazz Cruise and enquired if there were any vacancies which there were so we Booked for their LoveJazz Cruise. We Booked a Disabled Cabin but to our diss appointment we got a normal Balcony Cabin which we were unable to get Our wheelchair through the door. After going to the Guest Services to complain we were given a seat for the shower as my Wife is unable to stand in the shower it was tiny but a shower seat was able to fit in. Apart from this small hiccup we had a wonderful time on board. The corridors were a little narrow to navigate the wheelchair as the laundry trolleys were also parked in them and it was a tight squeeze to pass them with the chair. The Public Areas were very Grand and wide so we were able to navigate them easily. There were plenty of elevators so we were able to get around to all the Decks. The Shows were great but no ramps to reach the seats upfront so we had to sit in the back as the wife could not navigate the steps. But we still had a good view of the action on stage. We enjoyed a good laugh with our Local Comedians who were on board. The Jazz Bands were good but played rather late in the evening for us Seniors I am 70 & my wife is 68 but we managed to stay up until 1-30am to listen to them. The Casino was beautiful to see although we are not Gamblers we went to have a look see at it. We.got to see most of the Ship the Shopping Area's and bought to MSC Jackets, as we forgot to pack Jackets and it got quite Chilly in the Evening's on Deck. The staff were were very professional at all stages. Cabins were exceptionally clean. dining was divine. dressing up for each dinner was my highlight. The activities on board were well executed. Did I have fun! the service overall was of a very high standard. Staff was very helpful and just wanted to do their best. I loved the professionalism among staff on board. They go out of their way to make us feel special. Our room 10202 was always in an immaculate condition. Thanks to your staff members who operated that section. The excursions were well-planned and to the point. I was able to travel to Swakopmund for those hours and I really enjoyed it.I did not travel with my kids. But the parents of the children on board were taken care of. I hope to encourage more of my friends to go on this trip next year cause it is worth every cent. Read Less
