Great Itinerary but ship needed work.

Review for Rotterdam to Baltic Sea

Done the VoV cruise before - did it again but won't do it a third time. ROTTERDAM needs work - plus I feel HAL has been "Carnivalized". Food in main dining room was so/so - ate in Lido for dinner which we don't care to do but DR menu was uninviting. Orchestra was great but only one on board. So no music for ballroom dancing on show nights - they used recorded music instead. Entertainment in ...

We decided to book this 38-night Holland America (HAL) cruise because it made multiple stops in Greenland and Iceland - two destinations on our bucket list. Other interesting new ports for us were Douglas (the Isle of Man,) Portree ( Isle of Skye) plus Rotterdam, The Netherlands and Liverpool, UK. Ports previously visited by us included ones in New England, Canada and Europe. Even more ...

The exceptional itinerary surpassed the flaws

Holland America woos you with exceptional, port intensive itineraries, mid sized ships, excellent hotel service and the promise of sophisticated enrichment. They succeeded in fulfilling our expectations on the first three but failed on the fourth. If you considered this cruise as a floating hotel you would be happy enough. We were satisfied with the dining , it is fresh and well prepared. The ...

Rotterdam Built 1997 19 Years Old 61,849 Tons Last Dry Dock 2015 Vista Suite # 7055 Voyage of the Vikings We turned in our passports for inspection about three times, and needed to appear in person with the passports in Rotterdam. Don't know what would have happened if we didn't have them, since we were on a closed circuit itinerary and technically don't need them to return ...

Review for Norwegian Spirit to Europe - All

My husband and Itook this trip as cruise of a lifetime. Although this Ship is the oldest in the NCL fleet, we were attracted by the itinerary. We were not disappointed. After being on previous cruises on much newer and larger ships, we enjoyed the quaintness of the Spirit. It was a change from having to deal with much larger crowds. Although the room decor was a little dated, all in all the cabin ...

Not a very good cruise line in general

My family and I went on transatlantic cruise to Europe for 15 days. This was is gave me a total of 75 days of cruising, which makes me believe what a cruise should be like. Not enough activities through out the day. The food was less than desirable. The windjammer closes at 8:30 PM and they open a park café that served pre-made sandwiches. These sandwiches had mayo and other things on ...

My wife and I cruised the Rhone and Saone rivers in southern France during early April of 2014 and were absolutely delighted with our Viking River Cruise experience. Our 190 passenger longship, the Heimdal, was elegant and very contemporary, and our mid-ship veranda stateroom was roomy and had a lovely balcony from which we watched the spectacular countryside drift by as we enjoyed our morning ...

we traveled with the whole family. The kids LOVED Splash academy. the counselors were great and kept the kids busy. the complimentary restaurants were fine, although the service was a bit slow. you just have to have the right mind set (you are on vacation so relax) our reservations were generally for 5:30 and we were done with dinner by 7 (skipped dessert) the pool was crowded and often noisy. the ...

Review for Maasdam to Baltic Sea

Bad stuff first:(1)Embarkation was slow. (2)When we got to our cabin on Saturday, there was no heat--and we did not have any heat until the following Thursday. It was not just our cabin, a lot of other people had the same problem. (3)The shows were really rather poor. (4)The gym was minimal and really needed some maintenance. Items of note: (1)The only butter available was unsalted. (2)The ...

Excursions were too expensive, one could go on shore and find the same type for less than half. Food in dining room Rotterdam was bland, slow, and showed little imagination for culinary tastes. My wife and I ate three times in the Pinnacle Grill, found the food to be outstanding, service excellent, and well worth the $25 add on. Medical facilities were great as I had to use twice. Our new ...
