I have long wanted to visit Iceland. The itinerary was outstanding. Captain Olav was very accessible and friendly. Having sailed with Viking, I had very high expectations and encouraged another couple to cruise with me. Having high expectations, Viking did not exceed my expectations. The dining offerings were not as superior as my last Viking cruise. Some of the meat was tough and difficult ...
We had been on many Viking River cruises but never on a Viking ocean cruise. We were excited to see Iceland while experiencing a Viking ocean cruise for the first time. We found that the included excursions were very basic (e.g., walk around a small Iceland town of 700 people). The excursions that were not complimentary were very pricy, far exceeding what we experienced on Viking river cruises. ...
I learned a lot about cruising from this experience, my very first cruise. The Viking crew and facilities are first rate. The food was good and the rooms are lovely. If you are an older cruising couple with a lot of resources, this is the cruise for you. You will find many people like you, and the outings and onboard activities will be perfect for you.
Not being an experienced cruiser, ...
We chose this cruise because of the ports they visited and the pre-cruise extension. The pre-cruise extension had 2 nights in Oslo and 2 additional nights in Bergen. In both locations the hotels Viking booked us in were excellent. We loved their central locations where we could walk to everything or have easy access to transportation. The train ride from Oslo to Bergen was beautiful. The fjords in ...
We wanted to see the majestic fjords, the arctic circle, puffins and whales (we did close up). Also to get away from the turbulent world we live in. We loved Norway and Iceland and their life style. The services on the ship were superb, the cuisine delectable and tailored to all tastes. The staff was friendly, efficient, eager to help. The lectures were very interesting and informative. The ...
Friends and Family had sailed with Viking (both Ocean and River) all with glowing endorsements.
Decided to give V/Ocean a go and we were not disappointed until several of our well planned excursions were cancelled. In particular, a scheduled and confirmed by Viking excursion back in April - when the excursion window opened, was snatched back by Viking while we were onboard and sailing our ...
My wife and I enjoyed our trip immensely. We ate way too much, but walked it off on the shore excursions.
We have 3 Viking river cruises under our belt so this was our first ocean adventure. I do not want to be negative whatsoever, but we really liked the smallness of the river ships. We would meet someone on the Star and then very likely would not see them again. I know on our river trips ...
Northern lights cruise. We saw them several times. Food was good overall, although pastries and deserts were sub standard with the exception of the blueberry muffins which were great.service was very good in the dining room. Food over cooked in the buffet.
Room was a deluxe balcony with large bathroom. Very nice balcony. Would sail again with Viking. Comparable. to Oceania. The room steward ...
We were asked by friends to join them on this cruise. The Northern Lights were on my husband and my bucket list so we, and four other couples, decided to book the cruise. The booking process was fairly smooth regarding the itinerary, room choice and making the reservation. We gave all five of the reservation numbers to the booking agent (he said that was all he needed in order to book things ...
