Review for a South Pacific Cruise on Regatta

18 months previously, my wife and I did a cruise on Oceania Insignia, which was quite enjoyable. This cruise on the Oceania Regatta was a disappointment. Unfortunately for the Regatta, we had just done a cruise on the Cunard Queen Victoria and there was no comparison. The Queen Victoria is far better. We have done 26 cruises on 11 different cruise lines. The cost of cruising with Oceania is very ...

Nice ship but!

Review for a Asia Cruise on Norwegian Jewel

Very nice ship, fitted out well, plenty of eateries and bars, but the allowable dress code, was appalling. I understand people like to relax and unwind, but there is a time and place, where you need to make an effort and night time dining, is that time. Far too many people, rocking up in board shorts, singlets and thongs and expecting to be allowed entry to the Dining Rooms. We are not snobs by ...

Great ports, disappointing ship

As the title suggests we were not overly impressed by the ship as far as first impressions goes it was a fail for Norwegian. The ship looked very nice at the docks we viewed it the night before boarding but alas that was to our only good impression. The boarding experience was abysmal we lined up for and hour and a half in hot conditions imaging that it must be slow as they were checking people ...

Itinerary was great, ship poor.

Unless you have the dinning package and drinks package, having to eat in the complimentary dinning rooms can be very hit and miss, mostly miss. The food overall their was not good. Drinks for Aussies extremely expensive. If you wanted good food you had to dine in the extra pay dinning rooms, this should not be the case, why should the buffet be of such poor standard, cold, plastic sliced into ...

Amazing itinerary, but this ship is overdue for refurbishment

As an itinerary cruiser this trip has been amazing! All the ports of call have been new to me and have provided so many days of wonderful sights. The ship, however, is past due for a face lift. "Tired" is putting it mildly. Carpet is worn and dirty, a lot of the furniture is "old" and needs to be replaced. The library, where I had hoped to find some peace and quiet reeks of cigarette ...

Boat too small for big waves in South Pacific

Review for a South Pacific Cruise on Paul Gauguin

Well the weather was not in our favour ☹ We did not disembark in Aitutaki ☹ high winds and strong current, it was cloudy in the Cook islands, we did visit Raratonga, it took us one sea day to get to the cooks and one night to get to Aitutaki but in the morning the captain announced that we are heading back and instead of one sea day, it took two full sea days to get back and arrive in Moorea ☹ ...

Highly disappointing

Review for a South Pacific Cruise on Paul Gauguin

Have been on PG three times. Last one, this year after a 9 year hiatus. The ship just arrived back from drydock so was all refurbished. BUT- we were highly disappointed with the quality of the food. In the past, food was gourmet quality. This time was really low quality. We both felt the same way. Even the presentation was not very appetizing. 3 months prior, we were on a Celebrity ship at one ...

Excellent food and service but little beyond that.

We chose this cruise because of price, destinations and timing. We have over 50 cruises mostly on Celebrity, Royal Caribbean and Princess. This was our first on Oceania. We stayed a week in Tahiti at the Intercontinental in an over water bungalow prior to the cruise. Embarkation was flawless and fast. Disembarkation was smooth in Sydney with the exception of taxi availability. It took 1-1/4 ...

An Unhappy Repeat Customer

Review for a South Pacific Cruise on Paul Gauguin

My wife and I, ages 77 and 84 and experienced travelers, had cruised on the Paul Gauguin previously (2012). Now, 4 years later, the service on the ship was still outstanding--particularly in the dining areas. The maître d' of the "La Veranda" restaurant was exceptional. The food, however--although well-prepared, well-presented, of good quality and varied--was only average in taste. The ...
