"Ship late in / port authorities slow / problems with the gang plank we had every excuse {the best one, never confirmed, was a 180degree turn needed because the gang plank could only be used on one side} .Guidance on who gets off first was given for tenders and excursions… but then no ship’s personnel was around to assist...."Read More

1-9 of 9 Silversea Silver Spirit Cruise Reviews for Luxury to Africa
We have toured South Africa before ...Cape Town and Garden route route by road. We wanted to try a cruise for the first time as it included two stops in Namibia with Silver Spirit. At least is what was planned. After our booking Luderitz was cancelled in Namibia and came off the schedule due to so called operational challenges! And hooray was the message therefore an extra day in Cape Town! Having ...
Expectations were high as we flew to South Africa on time {the worry of travelling BA behind us} to find a totally disjointed hotel selected by Silverseas. Well, it’s only one night, it can only get better from here... or so we thought thinking positively.
Next day came and we took a private transfer to the ship. We arrived at the terminal to find around 50 people queuing in front and an hour ...
This was our 21st cruise. Having sailed before with Princess, Celebrity and Cunard.
We chose this cruise firstly for the itinerary and secondly for the fact that this was supposed to be a luxury cruise.
We searched and searched and could not find the luxury that was supposed to be aboard this vessel. In fact what we found was a ship in need of modernising and updating. The ships overall ...
This cruise was attractive as it went through the Middle East from Mumbai and we had already traveled twice with SilverSeas prior the sale to Royal Caribbean. Both trips were excellent with Italian class.
On this trip the cabins are fine and the staff just excellent….but..
Many on board agreed the food had gone backwards in quality ,was tasteless and most of the wine offerings were very ...
Firstly the ship was only two thirds full and we were on board for 28 days. If you paid half of what they asked it would be still expensive and not value.
The Seishin restaurant is supposed to be Japanese themed with a surcharge of US$40 per head. The Wagyu beef which is supposed to be marbled was not and the Miso soup was like beef broth. Any resemblance to Japanese was coincidental.
The ...
We have been regular Silversea travellers including twice on the Silver Spirit before it was lengthened. The lengthening seems to have produced a jerky motion at low speeds.
The cruise from Singapore to Mumbai only got as far as the first port: Phuket. With all the scheduled ports closed we then meandered around the South China Sea for 10 days hoping someone would let us in. Eventually, we ...
We've always thoroughly enjoyed our silversea cruises unfortunately not this time . From the moment we stepped onto the ship in Mahe the atmosphere felt different . Reception staff not friendly customer service sadly lacking particularly from 2 people one male and one female who showed no interest at all in any query we made . In my mind first impressions are the most important and they certainly ...
By comparison with 4.5 company such as Oceania and 4 star cruise company such as Princess or Holland, we do not consider silversea as a 5 Star cruising for the following reasons;
- at least 50% of the staff are not easy to approach, they are not smiling and it looks like we disturb them
- the butler of our room was not proactive and the few request we made got poor reception
- a lot of ...
It WAS going to Madagascar, but plague broke out there. They didn't compromise, we didnt for instance, call in at Zanzibar as last minute port space apparently unavailable. Just awful port of call at Mozambigue (an island, desperately poor) and 5 sea days, ugh!!! luckily calm seas... nothing to do all day. OK for those lounging x pool but hardly any activities and those there were, very ...
