DW and myself have been cruising for a number of years, normally we take one or two cruises per year. I'd call us "opportunistic cruisers" because we live in Florida with easy access to three ports, and we normally book on the spur of the moment and just a few weeks before departure.
We've found that we enjoy cruises more when we go with low expectations, treating each time as a new vacation ...
First of all, let me begin by saying that I had read more than 100 reviews before we went on the Royal Princess. A big percentage of those reviews were negative or average reviews; only a few seemed to be satisfied with their Royal Princess experience. I considered switching ships/cruiseline because of the comments, but since the itinerary was exactly what we were looking for, we decided to give ...
This was our first cruise, booked on recommendation by a friend of ours mere weeks before departure. We had no real idea of what to expect beyond a big boat!!
Travel to the port was a mundane experience as to be expected but once we were on board the serious experience of cruising began!! The staff of the Royal Princess are beyond polite and helpful. The surroundings are plush, beautiful and ...
We sailed on Sept 21st. The Royal had just arrived from Europe, and it was a convergence of delays. Coast Guard inspection, Customs Inspection, and then Coast Guard drill. At any rate, boarding and departure were delayed. We were not in priority boarding so eventually they moved our line indoors in another building so we were out of the humidity and heat. That was good. There were definitely ...
My husband and I celebrated our 50th anniversary so decided to have a longer cruise with ports we had not visited before. We have taken 2 previous Princess cruises before and enjoyed them. This cruise was a back to back cruise so we did 10 days Eastern, and returned to port , got off the ship for about 30 minutes and returned to leave for the Southern half. Easy-peasy.
The cruise wasn't without ...
We did the B2B transatlantic and British Isles cruise. We flew down a day early and rented a car with Dollar. While renting it at the FLL airport the rep asked why were returning the car the same day. We told him we were going on a cruise and our hotel had a shuttle for $10/person to take us to the pier. He said to keep the car overnight (he even added on an extra hour so the rental was 25 ...
It was a smooth crossing even though a little dreary. Our first Port was the Azores & a pleasant surprise. We (My wife) organized our own tour with CC. We ended up with 24 which was 3 vans . but if you go to Ponta Delgado make sure you tour with Lisa @ Green Visions Tours. Great farm meal of local food. the rest of the tours we did some Princess and some with different CC members. Everyone ...
Having been on the Regal in October/November we found the Royal very easy to get around in and knew in advance about the problems with the elevators but that is all we could possibly complain about on the Royal.
The food was good, end entertainment was very good and the ship and crew were everything we could expect.
The ports were fine, but the ships tours were not all that great. We took ...
April 25, 2015 First Transatlantic cruise for me!
I drove down to Ft. Lauderdale the day before the cruise and spent the night with my brother and his fiance. I arranged for a luncheon aboard the Caribbean Princess for the 3 of us prior to sailing.... so we arrived early as instructed and had to wait a bit for the concierge, but worth the wait. We were treated royally! They disembarked and I ...
The was our 3rd transatlantic cruise on Princess and the 2nd on the Royal Princess. This one exceeded our own expectations! Embarkation was easy and as elite passengers we got on a bit early. Our stateroom was ready at noon and we were greeted by our Steward.
The Cruise Director, Lisa Ball, and her Deputy, Toby Hugget,t really set the tone for fun and happiness with a fabulous variety of ...
