Review for a Alaska Cruise on Norwegian Sun

I have mixed feelings about this cruise. I've only been on two cruises prior to this and both were with Carnival to the Bahamas. FIRST IMPRESSION - The port in Seattle was dirty. The check-in process was long, which is usually par for the course. When I finally got checked in and on board the ship I couldn't even go to my room because it wasn't ready. When my room was finally ready they ...

Not the quality I expected - poor service, lots of nickel and diming, be prepared to pay more than anticipated.

I chose this cruise as it was the only one that fit into my schedule. I did not realize that cruise ships now nickel and dime you on everything. The staff is not helpful when trying to book specialty restaurants. They can't recommend anything, they tell you to look at the menu and come back. I could not book specialty restaurants prior arriving on the ship, I tried, no specialty restaurant had ...

This was our first and last cruise with Norwegian. Between the minimal entertainment, aggressive sales tactics, and limited free dining options, we were annoyed and bored most of the time. The ship is so crowded that it’s almost impossible to even find a seat in a public area. That goes for shore excursions as well. Even though we prepaid for the premium plus drink package, we were charged ...

For so many years taking a cruise was something we were going to do “someday” when we retired. Well, someday came last September and the years of vague anticipation were more fun than the actual experience. The Good: Big, beautiful, clean facility. Size of the ship made the Iowa look like a rubber duck. Friendly, helpful staff, many making real effort to understand our English. The ...

When we arrived at port #66 in seattle, we waited 4 1/2 hours outside in the rain. apparently, there was a communication glitch. Nevertheless, we proceeded with optimism that this was only temporary, and we were going to have a wonderful relaxing cruise. ncl did nothing to accommodate the 4,000 passengers waiting in line with luggage, tired and wet. there were approximately 4,000 passengers ...

Overpacked, not able to accommodate that many people

I’ve cruised many times in the past with Carnival, Celebrity and Royal Carribean. This was the first time with NCL and my first time on a ship this size. We waited 3 hrs in the rain and 2 hrs inside trying to board the ship due to system being down. The buffet had good food but it was almost impossible to get a seat without at least a 30 min wait. The TV, app, WiFi and phones were down the first 2 ...

Very disappointing Alaskan cruise

We sailed on the Norwegian Bliss on her maiden voyage in 2018 from Southampton, UK to New York. It was a fabulous experience. We were excited to sail her again for Alaska, but it ended up being quite a disappointment. We are frequent cruisers, and have sailed pretty much every other line out there. We have never felt so nickeled and dimed as we did on NCL. The gratuities are the highest in the ...

My cruise isn’t over yet but I know this will be my last NCL cruise. I’ll try to be as objective as I can. Pros: - Newer ship. - Embarkation process was easy. - The Starbucks staffs are very friendly, efficient. Even when there’s a line it moves quickly. - The A-List bar outside of Los Lobos specialty dining was great. Spicy margaritas only served there and was excellent. - The ...

This cruise was a gift for my wife and me for our 20th anniversary of being Pastor of First Apostolic Church. Someone knew that we had always wanted to go on an Alaskan cruise but just couldn't afford it. So, that's how we chose the Alaskan cruise. We were on the Norwegian Encore, which, I believe, is the largest ship in the Norwegian fleet. It was extremely luxurious in every fashion: from ...

Very Disappointing/NCL Cost-Cutting Will Hurt Their Business

Review for a Alaska Cruise on Norwegian Encore

First off, we have gone on Norwegian twice before and both times were great. Out of the 10 cruises we have been on, this was by far the worst. It was evident that Norwegian has cut costs in many areas and the quality of the food/shows has really suffered. The ship also seemed to be short staffed, which made the service very poor as well. - Boarding: Very fast, the one positive about the ...
