What a hoot.................but only for 5 days. couldn't repeat the shows (btw don't ask us to write a plot summary of any of the shows - lol). very inflexible with any food tweaks even though they ask before every meal if you have any food allergies. asked for a simple salad or a bowl of veggies some nights or to adjust the cream content of a rich meal and the answer was always a no no no!!! ...

Not what we were expecting

The time frame suited us and we wanted to try Virgin Voyages. Also wanted to escape the North Queensland heat for a little while. We tried for at least 2 weeks prior to boarding to book Restaurants but the VV App seemed clunky and didn't work well. If we could get availability the App would re-start before we could make a booking. Once on-board there was little to no availability left at the 6 ...

Nobody told us to book restaurants and activities prior to boarding the ship

I saw a flash sale and decided to try it out. The restaurants were nearly all booked out when we went to book on the first day. We managed to book the Test Kitchen for an early dinner, Razzle Dazzle for breakfast two mornings and one dinner and another one on the last night at 9pm for dinner (too late but could not get a booking any other time). The gym was booked out also and my ...

Beautiful Ship but a few issues

Review for a Australia & New Zealand Cruise on Pacific Explorer

We sailed out of Melbourne on a 'Tastes of Tasmania' Cruise on 15 January 2024 for 5 nights. Pacific Explorer is a beautiful ship with lots of lovely public spaces, so we had no issue on that front. But we had a few issues on this trip which spoiled things a little for us. Firstly, this was only our second cruise, our first time with P&O and our first time in a balcony cabin. It was a quad and ...

EMBARKATION - Score: 1/10 Unfortnately our 6 night cruise on Dec 23, 2023 to Burnie, Hobart and back to Melbourne started off very badly due to a bizarre error by the Virgin staff working at embarkation area. We arrived an hour before our embarkation time and dropped off our luggage without any issues. Once 2.30PM hit, we were let through to the embarkation waiting area to get the required ...

We have cruised many times, and thought we would give Virgin Voyages a go. Let me start with the positives. The ship is amazing and has some fantastic spaces, including the Dock and Dockhouse and the rear deck on 15. Lots of spaces to escape. They have some of the best staff we have come across and they cannot do enough to help you. Embarkation was easy (as we had Blue Extras) so ...

We chose this cruise because it departed from Melbourne where we have relatives Pacific Explorer is rusty and shabby on the outside but bright and cheerful inside. Our porthole cabin was small but adequate and kept very clean by our friendly stewards. Guests need to be aware that anything extra in the way of food, drink etc. is charged at a top rate. The food quality was variable in ...

Pleasant cruise with a Covid sting in the tail

This is our third Cunard cruise, but like the furnishings in our cabin, the experience is wearing a bit thin and tired. While the day lectures offered were good, the nighttime theatre entertainment was merely glossy and without depth. Could something other than modern pop style music be presented? Meals and service were generally ok, as delivered by the hard working crew. But the LIdo buffet ...

We chose the cruise to try out Virgin cruises as we are regular cruisers mainly with Royal Caribbean. The food and restaurants were great however the entertainment is very lacking! I would recommend Virgin if you want health and fitness classes most of your holiday. However this isn’t for all demographics. Our cabin on level 14 you could hear the trolleys rattling around above us so I would say ...

We wanted to try the new and different cruise line. No kids didn’t worry us but we now see the advantage of not having them onboard. The ship is so stable and a real treat to be on the sea in her. So smooth and gentle. When we left the ports you didn’t even know we had departed when inside the ship. All the staff are very helpful and very happy. We feel they are being looked after and ...
