After our previous port (St. Lucia), Barbados was disappointing. We had booked a private tour on our own through Glory Tours. They took us across a large part of the island to Cherry Tree HIll, Morgan Lewis Windmill, Bathsheba, an old church and then stopped at Copacabana Beach. Our tour guide was informative and friendly and the countryside was pretty. And athough Copacabana Beach is pretty it is very crowded and the charge you for everything! We did the turtle snorkel "cruise" so we could keep our stuff with us while we snorkeled but were very diasppointed. The "tour" was crowded and chaotic, with multiple tour boats of about 50 people each cramming into one area of the water. We could see the shore from where we were and realized we could have swam out to this spot without paying $20 per person! Read Less

Talked to the foalks at the Barbados ministry of tourism counter in the duty free mall. They suggested I take a cab (costing $5) to Carsile bay Copacabana beach club. Provided me with welcome rum punch drinks, and yes they were strong !

My favorite port. Nice easy walk downtown to beautiful beach. $15 for two chairs, an umbrella and a welcome drink. Stayed a while, took a slow walk back to the ship and stopped for a drink along the way. This was a comical incident. Asked two old ladies to recommend a nice local place for food and they told us to follow them to a nice buffet place. My husband heard one telling the other that "we will get them to pay for our food". I never heard and kept walking but when we got there we lagged behind a bit and he told me. Saw them filling their plates to the max so we sneaked away and left. Read Less

Ok so Barbados...it looks so so so sketchy but honestly we walked in to town (20 min walk or so) and everyone was incredibly friendly. We walked to the Boatyard beach club which could use some more signage to make it easier to find from the road but beyond that was a good deal- $25 got you a drink, a chair and an umbrella on a beautiful clean beach with various water trampolines and swing rope you could use and a ride back to cruise dock. It also included a boat ride/snorkel out to see turtles but honestly- in less you get there right when they open the chances are your name will not be called before you have to head back to ship. Kind of a bummer there but still an enjoyable day. You can buy food and drinks there- pricey for just burgers and chicken strips but expected. They do allow vendors on beach but they were not in your face and took no for an answer politely and easily. We never felt like it was bothersome. Some of the beach clubs next door seemed to have more of a problem controlling that issue. Also beach club next door had jet ski rides and tubing but once you have on a Boatyard wrist band- you are not allowed to use those or they will throw you out. Boatyard has insurance policy- jet ski and tube places apparently do not. And it shows- they looked dangerous at the speeds they were going. Luckily Boatyard had a very clear designated swim area that those boats could not access so I felt safe swimming. Good day all in all. Read Less

We took a taxi to a place of interest to us about a mile from where we docked in Bridgetown. The George Washington House & Museum and also the Garrison Tunnels located at the same place. The house is restored with period pieces and has wonderful, informative tour guides. Also the Garrison Tunnels which have been recently found on the grounds has another tour which is also quite interesting. We recommend. Read Less
