Celebrity Silhouette Cruise Review by frankie1717
- Sail Date: February 2012
- Destination: Eastern Caribbean
- Cabin Type: Concierge Class
Port Cape Liberty convenient port but my least favorite. It was like waiting is a warehouse.
Boarding delayed several hours due to prior cruise gastro problems requiring a complete sanitizing of ship. Waiting area in terminal not a pleasant experience. Celebrity ill prepared to handle the delay.
The Ship: Silhouette is the newest of the Solstice class. Except for elevator locations which both banks were Mid-ship and therefore inconvenient to the forward and aft cabins, we found all venues to be attractive and well designed.
Cabin was nice, beds comfortable, and decent sized shower stalls. Access to the over the bed storage was a challenge. Flat screen TV had more choices, (including 20 plus free on-demand movies) than most ships we have cruised
The Captain: had to be the funniest most entertaining of any ship we have ever sailed. It is important to mention that he is Greek. He reminded us at least 3 times a day.
Dining: first 3 days was challenge because all foods had to be served by staff due the health precautions (see above) As such, service was erratic but understandable. In spite of this, food and service in all dining venues was excellent. We chose the select dining option (no set time to eat) and shared tables with different passengers every night. Met some really nice and interesting people. Breakfast and Lunch buffets were among the best ever.
Entertainment: From the lounge acts to the main theater all were top notch.
Conclusion: We will likely cruise on Silhouette again.
Our Deck 12 aft location not the best choice. It was located below the Buffet and very noisy especially as staff was setting up for breakfast.
