We chose this cruise for the Alaska itinerary. The ports were amazing. However, the ship, service and food left so much to be desired. Everything from start to finish was extremely disorganized. Overall, the staff were pleasant but most of them just didn't seem to have been trained properly. This was our 9th cruise with Carnival and up until this cruise we've been very happy with Carnival.

Our cabin steward asked us what time we would like the room serviced. We chose from 8-10am. He never came until the afternoon. The bathroom commode gurgled at different times throughout the cruise. Our deck experienced water outages although our cabin was lucky and didn't have a loss of water. The beds were hard even with us being used to firm mattresses at home. The fabric on one of our balcony chairs was so frayed and old that it was impossible to sit in it because the seat sank down into a metal bar. We asked on the 1st day to have it replaced and never received resolution to the problem. The deck was more spacious than previous ones. The room had a number of little things that needed fixing. The whole ship is showing it's age and Carnival could have and should have done a better job at refurbishing it.

The food was subpar and the wait times for dinner were long and unacceptable. Reservations for the Dining room started at 5:15pm and needed to be done over your phone. One evening (and it wasn't on elegant night) we put our reservation in at 5:30...15 minutes after they became available. We waited for 80 minutes to get a table and didn't get out until 8:05pm. That's over 2.5 hours for dinner. Several times our food had to be sent back. One time for the supposedly grilled salmon that was completely raw in the middle. Another time my husband ordered the vegetarian option and it came out with jumbo shrimp in it.
