I am amazed by the negative reviews of the Azamara Onward cruises, especially in January 2023 which is when I took my cruise. After 7 days on the too-large, though underwhelming, Sky Princess in December cruising on the Onward was like paradise. My husband and I cruised this ship in 2011 when it was the Pacific Princess so I sort-of knew what to expect. This was my 20th cruise on six different lines and one of my favorites.

I cruised solo and was a little worried that I might be bored. Not so. Plenty of activities and I especially enjoyed the Trivia contests every day. The library selections were just OK, but I had loaded my Kindle prior to the cruise. It was always possible to find a quiet lounge area to have a drink and read. I met many wonderful people on this trip and had a great time.

The food selections in the main dining room and the steak and Italian restaurants were excellent. The buffet is small and can get crowded. The dessert selections were especially wonderful with plenty of gelato and sorbet flavors every day. I didn't eat at The Patio area, so can't comment.
