Who we are: My husband and I are 50yo novice cruisers, I would term him a "reluctant" cruiser and myself a more "eager" cruiser. We wanted to try Virgin as soon as we heard about it, well, my husband indicated he thought this could be the cruise for him and I jumped on it.

Our experience: We were in a Cheeky Corner Suite on the back of the ship, and it was gorgeous. The room, bathroom, and balcony were all huge. The well-known hammock was there and got a lot of use from us, I only wish there were 2! There certainly is enough space on that balcony for 2. That room comes with "Rock Star" status, which meant our time from arrival at the port to on board was something like the time it took us to walk the distance to the ship and I'm not exaggerating. We did hit a hiccup, that our bands did not open our room, but we simply back tracked to the first crew member we saw, who then walked us to a desk with sailor services, shore things, IT help, and spa reservations. While sailor services was fixing our bands, I arranged a shore thing that I had put off, and booked some spa treatments. Soon enough we were all set and off to explore.

I will say that I have seen it said that this ship could use maps and I do agree, the first day or so we got lost a lot, and the signage by the elevators indicated what level things were on, but not how to get there. So us being near the aft elevators, we quickly learned that nothing below level 7 could be accessed from there, we had to be in the mid for that. 6 & 7 are where a lot of the restaurants and other spaces are, so we just got used to going to 7 and walking to the central stair case and walking down if we needed to, a much more scenic route than walking along a cabin corridor!

Cabin Review

Cabin 11011Z was beautiful, large, with a large deck and a large bathroom. It wasn't noisy. On the deck you could hear music if they had a musician at the Dock below, but it didn't really filter into the room. I will sat that in the mornings when we were coming into port there was a lot of vibration. I could always feel the vibration of the engines on those mornings otherwise it was fine.
