We tried this cruise to see if we could enjoy the longer length and master the art of sea days. We failed. There were two couples in our 60s. We don't attend the dance parties, but enjoy the theatre productions and trivia sessions.

Day One- Embarkation- Vancouver and RCCL handled it brilliantly. We had a rental car and dropped the spouses off early before returning the rental at the airport. It was easy to find the right spot, the bags were accepted and the ladies just waited for our return before checking in. There was no waiting in lines (our last visit to Vancouver was the longest waits we have ever had). Rooms were ready quickly, but lunch in the Windjammer was a disappointment as the food was not fresh at all. It seemed to have been set out early and left out. We were surprised that there was not the normal pair of Washy-Washy girls at the entrance and only realized by chance that there was a sanitizing station. On the Navigator in June they were practically blocking you from entering the WJ and MDR. There was a Cruise Critic meetup at sailaway so we got to meet some of our fellow cruising addicts. Dinner in the MDR was good, though we had a substitute waiter and did not get a chance to meet the hero of our cruise until the next night.

Day Two- the first of several sea days in a row. Breakfast and lunch in the WJ. We did the trivia thing and talked to fellow passengers to pass the time. No chair hog issues this trip.

Cabin Review

Ocean View Balcony

Other than the dampness requiring us to move cabins we were very pleased with the size and cleanliness. Great Balcony size. Shower was very small and had a curtain rather than a door.

Port Reviews

Hilo

We were there on a Sunday. No taxis available, shops were 75% closed, no alternatives to ship excursions which were priced for a captive audience.

Maui

Was at Lahaina. Limited availability for rental cars- taxis would charge $75 for a ride to the airport to get one. We hired a taxi for 90 minutes and had him drive us around then had a great lunch in town.

Kauai

Limited transportation from the pier- only 11 taxis on the entire island. Shuttle busses only went to shopping malls. We had a great excursion with Kauai Backcountry Adventures but were stressed out about making it back to the ship on time.
