My girlfriend had never been to Alaska (me 5 times) and since Royal Caribbean is our favorite cruise line (me - 77 cruises so far) we chose the Quantum. The ship was nice, huge (168,000 tons) and very clean. We upgraded to an obstructed view balcony for $400 extra. The bed was very comfortable and there was a ton of storage space. Our cabin attendant was from China and was very good. We tipped him $50. The roast beef sandwiches at the two70 cafe were great as were the salads there. The Windjammer buffet was a solid B. The main dining room was a C+ and the service there was hit or miss. The pizza was above average. We don't drink alcohol so I can't comment there. Loved the Seaplex indoor area for roller skating, basketball, volleyball and pickleball. If you are an experienced pickleball player you will be disappointed as all of the players were newbies and were pretty much uncoordinated which took away from the fun for me, a 7 year veteran. The one big negative was Jamie's Italian specialty restaurant. My niece had raved about it so we decided to try it especially since as a Diamond Plus cruiser we got a buy one get one free deal. Service was very slow. The brushetta was bad as was the garlic bread (it was dry) The high end burger I ordered was anything but high end. The cost was $59 including gratuity so if we didn't have the free dinner it would have been $118, about $100 overpriced. Avoid Jamie's Italian like the plague.
