Chose this cruise to Alaska as it was my husband's bucket list and I had been on a Royal cruise to Alaska 11 years ago that was fantastic. They changed the itinerary due to loss of engines so we did not get to see a glacier, we were disappointed but things happen and we dealt with it and still had a great time. In my humble opinion since this was my 15th cruise on Royal, they have gone downhill. The dining room food was not good. I think they focus too much on the specialty restaurants that you have to pay extra for. They used to only have on specialty restaurant and they focused on the Dining room food. We bought the water package, we never got it till day 3. We are supposed to get robes, didn't get those till day 3. There was a fire in the engine room, we were held for 1 1/2 hours with staff at their muster stations in life jackets! The staff did a great job but management never addressed it. We barely knew or saw our cruise director. On most ships, they are a major part of the fun! Any way, it seems like Royal does not care about us long time repeat cruisers. I will choose another line next time, currently looking for spring. One other thing, the shows were horrible. I am not picky just like to watch pretty much anything and we walked out :(
