This was our first river cruise and we didn’t know exactly what to expect. It was a wonderful cruise down the Douro River. I read many reviews on cruise critic to get a better idea about the cruise we were taking.

I was most concerned about space in our room. We stayed on the diamond deck, room 316. The room is small but not so small and not short on storage. There is plenty of space under the bed. My husband and I both took two pieces of luggage (a checked bag and a carry on) and we stored them all under the bed. We also each brought a backpack. There are drawers at the end of the bed as well as shelves in the wardrobe….plenty of storage. Several pieces of correspondence from Scenic said one bag plus a personal item…you can bring more bags than that. Additionally, there are many European outlets in the room. Two on each side of the bed, two in the room vanity and one in the wardrobe..you don’t need to worry about outlets. The bed is slightly larger than a US queen but smaller than a US king..perfect size and so comfortable. The bedding is wonderful. The room is so clean. They come in twice a day to pick up and straighten up.

The boat is a great size…not too large but large enough to have some quiet time if you want it. I’m not interested in a boat that holds thousands of people…too large for me. Read more
