Sail Date: Aug 2022

After being 2 and 3-star Mariners on Holland America, my dad and I sailed on the Summit a year ago in August 2021 after we got a good rate and wanted to try Celebrity. We had such an amazing experience that we decided to take my mom with us on the Infinity due to timing/ports of call/etc.. I want to preface my review by saying that we went in knowing that it was a similar size ship to the Summit but hadn't been renovated recently- we also had our expectations managed by reading many of the reviews on the Cruise Critic forum boards, but we still left extremely disappointed in our overall experience this last week.

To start w/ the Ship- she's very dated which isn't necessarily a bad thing, but if you're expecting something super fancy, you should consider a newer or more recently renovated option. The solarium/Jacuzzi’s were all in working order as were many of the other features on board. I had a few spa appointments and the staff were great, however, there were noticeable water stains/paint peeling on the ceiling of the treatment rooms. The ship had just received a new shipment of Peloton bikes for the gym which weren't usable for the first few days, but they finally got a couple of them setup which was nice.

While many of the staff and crew members were lovely, we encountered several who were not. We played cards at the Cafe Al Bacio several different times and days- one of the times we were abruptly relocated because they needed to set up the DJ booth and another time, we asked for the drapes to remain open (it was still very light outside) so that we could see better, and we were told that the drapes needed to be closed to set the 'mood.' It would have been nice to receive advanced notice about the DJ booth set up as we were sitting there for at least two hours playing cards and drinking coffee.
