We have looked forward to seeing all the Netherlands' tulips in full bloom for many years and it didn't disappoint! The Keukenhof Tulip Gardens were breathtaking. We went on all the included tours and many of the optional ones including "Cheese and Windmills"; all were well planned with knowledgeable guides. Don't miss the Rijksmuseum or the Van Gogh museum in Amsterdam.
The Captain, Cruise Director and ALL the Viking staff aboard the Einar were outstanding: very friendly, helpful, professional and customer service focused. The daily Covid-19 testing was very reassuring and made us feel safe. We were also impressed with the staff's focus on cleaning and disinfecting all the public areas. Viking really went above and beyond to ensure our comfort and safety.
There were two frustrating events that did detract from our total enjoyment and satisfaction with the trip. We were not met at the airport by Viking personnel as promised. With two other couples we had to find our hotel by taxi cab. (We had arranged with Viking for a pre-cruise stay in Amsterdam.) The ship's bursar did reimburse us the fare but it dampened our otherwise wonderful first impression of the organization. Secondly, on two occasions the reserved/ hired buses did not show up as expected. This was not the fault of the Viking personnel but, rather, the bus company. Their lack of honoring their commitments to Viking led to significant delays in getting the guests both to and from scheduled outings and one of our outings was shortened and felt rushed as a result.
Our cabin was exceptionally clean and very well attended to by our Cabin Steward. The bed was comfortable and everything was in working order.
