We booked this cruise primarily for the Passion Play in Oberammergau and enjoyed all ports of call. We had Viking throughout--Viking Air and the pre-cruise stay. A little trouble with airlines but who doesn't incur that now. Luckily, we made all flights and our luggage was at its final destination. We were three hours late coming into Munich but we called Viking and their agent met us at the airport. Once we were in Viking hands, it was smooth sailing. Our guide in Munich, Oberammergau and Garmisch P (same one) was excellent. Great commentary on the bus rides. He left us when we boarded Egil, but the crew there, especially the hotel and entertainment directors, were excellent. Although we enjoyed our ports, some of the best things were sitting on the sundeck as we went through locks and under bridges. Amazing how close these boats come to each other. We also enjoyed the scenery and commentary as we sailed through the Wachau ValleyThe history and architecture in Regensburb, Passau, Vienna and Budapest was awesome. Really enjoyed Gottweig Abbery, its scenery and wine tasting. Apricot brandy was good. Included excursions in each port, usually walking tours, were worthwhile. But our favorite was the Hungarian horseman. A sole rider controlled five horses.
don't remember cabin category. It was a French balcony- floor to ceiling glass but no balcony. Bathroom was small, but no smaller than any cruise ship. Sufficient storage space. Nice amenity was heated bathroom floor. Room steward was very attentive.
loved Budapest and wished we had more time there. The city tour was interesting and Budapest lit up at night was gorgeous
Loved Gottweig Abbey. Again wished we had more time. The abbey was interesting but also would like to explore grounds
Enjoyed seeing the buildings and marks by Danube floods. Organ concert in St Stephens was good
