We chose this cruise because we wanted to do Alaska and liked what we were hearing about Viking. Focus is on the destination and not a resort experience which is fine with us. Adults only, superb dining, junior suite was plenty large and very comfortable, service was always impeccable. While not having the big theatrical production on board, the entertainment was top notch and a great way to finish off our many busy days. I especially liked that they stream those shows to the cabins for the weary. And finally, Alaska was an amazing experience. We both highly recommend Viking and go visit Alaska. We splurged and did a number of the higher end excursions and they did not disappoint. The Iditarod dogs were fascinating. We saw plenty of wildlife and our two glacier trips were something we had never experienced. Dining is a breeze on Viking as all service areas are covered in the ship's fare. Their home made ice cream was a daily highlight. Unfortunate for my waistline. The only slight disappointment was the Anchorage pre-cruise segment and the arranged Viking airfares. If we could have a redo, I would have controlled the air travel and arranged our time in Anchorage. We have already booked a Viking cruise to Norway. We will try a few other cruise lines in the meantime, but they will have to work hard to top Viking.
