We had 2300 passengers on board because it was spring break for many Florida students. The previous few weeks were running about 1200 to 1400. This was our fourth post-pandemic cruise and we definitely felt the higher capacity. The crew definitely struggled at first. It seems Princess did not increase the crew much if at all to account for the high capacity. The first day was disorganized and hectic, which is unusual for Princess. Things started to settle down after that and we had a great time. The Princess warm and personalized service was great as usual. It was disappointing that we missed two port stops (Princess Cays because of high winds and Grand Cayman because the port was not yet reopened) but the sea days were relaxing. We had five kids in our group and I worried they would be bored but they always had something to do. We were just happy to relax and take in the Princess pampering, excellent food (best in the industry IMO), and surprisingly good entertainment. The ship is a little worn and some things did not work as they should have (showers were malfunctioning), but it is getting cleaned up soon at drydock. The food was excellent. Pizza is the best at sea. I wish the vegetarian options were more creative, especially at the International Cafe. The veggie burgers are a disgusting mash of chickpeas and veggies. Please at least give us a real veggie burger. We always enjoy Crooners. We are big FOBs (Friends of Bert, as in Stratton) and we miss him on Princess. Liam Stewart took a little getting used to, but he grew on me. Anyone who can play Filler/Root Beer Rag as well as he can earns a lot of points in my book. I just wish his vocal range was bigger (esp. for the Elton John show). Gary the cruise director was high energy and a bit cheezy but he made things fun and was everywhere on the ship. Our kids still talk about him. The Medallion app is terrible but we figured out some ways to deal with the many glitches with help from the tech staff (I have a separate post on that). Please don't suffer trying to deal with the app and go see the tech folks on the first day. They will help you figure out how to navigate this terrible piece of software. We put down new future cruise deposits on board and are looking forward to sailing Princess again soon.
