Carnival Magic 9-18-21 5 Day Bahamas Cruise.
I was really excited to be able to cruise again after everything being shut down for 18 months. My friend and I take a "girl's cruise" every year and of course missed last year. We signed up for the 9-18-21 5 day Bahamas cruise. We felt like Carnival did a bait and switch because after booking, they changed all of the mask and testing mandates. Luckily, they weren't strict about the masking.
I was pretty stressed about the testing process. What if I can't get a test, what if I can't get my results in time, what if Carnival doesn't like my printed results or vaccine card, what if, what if, what if... Naturally, the appointment I had with the CVS clinic was canceled 4 days after setting it up. There were no more CVS appointments, the closest with Walgreens at that point was in VA, I live in TN. It worked out for the best, though. I got one at the Little Clinic at Kroger, 2 miles from my house. They were awesome! I got the results in 15 minutes and they printed the results for me. I did have a backup plan. For $70, I ordered 2 Carnival sanctioned home tests online and had those with me just in case. Recommendation: Get the quick test, not the one you have to wait 2 days for the results. If you don't get them in time, you won't be sailing.
We were in room 6444 a forward balcony room on deck 6. No complaints, plenty of room for the 2 of us. It was above the Spotlight lounge but we had 0 noise issues. I like being forward or aft so there is less foot traffic by our door.
Recommendation: It is hard to keep the room cool enough at night. I travel with a small fan that is run from a USB port and night lights for the bathroom that charge with a USB port.
The souvenir pin and complimentary water that you get as a gold member are no longer left for you in the room. You can get the water at a bar and the pin at the photo gallery.
