My husband and I are frequent cruisers but have been loyal to Royal Caribbean, and occasionally Carnival for convenience. This was our first NCL cruise, and we chose it because we wanted to visit Key West on a short weekend cruise. The schedule and value were perfect, and a low priced direct flight out of Charleston, SC was the icing on the cake! (We live 2 hours from Charleston). Having never experienced the open bar concept, we weren't expecting much as far as service or food (to compensate for the free alcohol), and also expected a ship full of belligerent drunk people. Boy, were we wrong! The ship was beautiful (although a little confusing at first), the crew was SUPER friendly, the food and drinks were amazing, and other cruisers were a blast! We didn't experience any extremely drunk people, surprisingly enough, and the ambiance of the ship was laid-back and just fun. Our oceanview room was perfectly comfortable from the cool AC to the bed and pillows. We are extremely satisfied and pleasantly surprised, and look forward to more cruises on NCL, particularly the Sky.
Oceanview aft, perfect for the two of us. AC was nice and cold, bed was sooo comfortable, room was kept impeccably clean. I expected to feel ship movement, but it was completely smooth.
Boarding the ship was quick and painless.
Loved Key West! Right off the ship we rented a golf cart from a kiosk, and rode around the small island. We had chosen before hand which places we wanted to visit (sloppy Joe's, Earnest Hemingway house, key lime pie bakery, $5 stores, mile 0) and easily hit all those places in the 3 hours we had the cart.
Typical cruiseline-owned island, we only got off the ship for the free taco bar, which was just okay. I felt the vendors were over-priced ($18 for a magnet??).
