My girlfriend wanted to go on a cruise and after reading some reviews we decided to try one with carnival. Since this was our first cruise we tried a short 3 day cruise and I’m so glad we only went for that long. Each bar only had one bartender. If there was a second person behind the bar they were cleaning or doing something else other than serving the long line of passengers waiting for a drink. It would sometimes take 15 minutes just to be acknowledged. The food was terrible. I foolishly had two hamburgers the first day and was sick later that night. Perhaps sea sickness played a roll in this, however this was the only day I got sick. Everything at the buffet tasted awful, I’ve cooked food with no seasoning that tasted better. It took an average of ten minutes to wait for an elevator. There was NO clear information on anything. We were told nothing would be open the morning we were debarking however there was one buffet and a few bars open. One night they had an “elegant night” where people dressed up for dinner. When our meal arrived it was barely lukewarm. The waiters were carrying plastic trays with the food in them out from the back as if all the food was pre prepared. This would explain why it was cold but not why we still had to wait 30 minutes to be served after ordering. There were three pools aboard but you could only fit about 10 people in each. The hot tubs had cold water being pumped into them starting around 9pm. What is the point of a hot tub if you can only get in during the day when the hot sun is out. This whole thing was a terrible experience. I feel like there was no attempt to achieve guest satisfaction this cruise was simply for profit. Of course they need to make a profit, it’s a business. I just have no idea how they continue to do so with such abysmal service. Neither me nor my girlfriend will ever cruise with carnival or recommend them to anyone. This experience most likely ruined any cruises for us in the future not just with carnival. Housekeeping was the one positive.
