My daughters and I wanted a cruise as our Christmas present to each other, but wanted to be home in time for family holiday celebrations. This one was perfectly timed, after their college finals, home before Christmas. We had previously sailed on the Celebrity Solstice to Alaska a few years before, and decided to stick with Celebrity. This is a slightly smaller ship than the Solstice, but same general lay-out. It was decorated beautifully for Christmas!

We booked everything ourselves, and I know the risks of that, but it worked out just fine. Flew into Fort Lauderdale the day before, stayed in a hotel. We took an Uber from our hotel to the pier, got checked in super quickly (I had done the Fast Pass stuff before we got there). I had allowed Celebrity to assign the cabin within the balcony class to get a little better price. We got a nice cabin on Deck 7 - only downside was it was next to a place in the ship that jutted out, so there was not the full 180-degrees of view. But we got a decent price as far as I know, and can't really complain. The cabin itself was well kept, nothing special, smaller than the same type we had on the Solstice (the third person had a pull-out chair rather than a sofa this time.) There was a rust spot on the ceiling, maybe the size of a silver dollar, and I first thought maybe it was mold - the steward showed us how it was rust, and literally got it painted one day when we were out of the cabin!

Food was AWESOME. Wait staff in the dining room functioned without a flaw. The buffet was also very good, often included leftovers from the dining room so a second chance at those delicious entrees! There was no shortage of food options and all of it was very good. My only complaint was that the ice machines in the buffet area often had no ice and I love to drink iced tea!

Deluxe Ocean View with Balcony 2A

Cabin 2A

As stated in the general review, the cabin was average. Clean, comfortable, but smaller than what we had on the same deck of the Solstice when we sailed on that ship 3 years prior. There was almost no room for walking when the third bed was pulled out (it was a pull-out chair). The chair was against the outside wall, and the bed reached all the way to the desk on the opposite wall when pulled out. No way to get to the balcony after the steward pulled out that 3rd bed unless you crawled over the bed. There was a refrigerator with a mini-bar completely packing it full (and overpriced) so no easy way to store some fruit or ice cream for later. I wish the fridge had been empty and useful to me.
