This was our 9 Celebrity Solstice class cruise in past 5 years. We usually cruise aboard the Reflections, and Silhouette ships. Usually food has been excellent (10 out of 10) but on the Equinox cruise the food was poor. We only had 2 very good meals in Main Dining Room, only fair meals in the buffet and even the upscale Tuscan Grill was just very good (not excellent like before). We also usually like the hamburgers at the Mast Grill but the burgers themselves seemed different (although cooked good) but just tasted different. I think almost every meal we had was overcooked and dry, with meat being tough. I know I could have sent it back but it probably wouldn't have made a difference because others had dry looking, tasteless meals also in our group. Prime Rib was excellent and so was Beef Tornadoes (2 nights) in the Main Dining Room. Pasta's were starchy and tasteless. Lamb chops were overcooked. Overall ship was just about as nice as other Celebrity ships but my main complaint was the food. One other thing, the Equinox singers and dancers (the ship performers) were OK but the productions didn't seem to have a good theme or concentrate on music anyone knew. This was not my own opinion completely but several people on the elevator commented that it was either theme park quality or high school quality. I rated value for my money average just because one of my main things I look forward to is good food aboard Celebrity and it just wasn't there on this cruise. Drinks were very good and service at the bars and even the MDR was excellent. On last thing, the deck chairs were somewhat different than other Celebrity ships and were very hard to sit on for long periods of time.

Cabin Review

Concierge Class 3

Cabin C3

The cabin was very nice and well maintained. Stateroom attendant did a very good job. The ship is ready for a referb in 2019. Internet was slower than other Celebrity ships and selection of channels on the TV was slim (as usual on Celebrity). My only complaint in the cabin was the quality of the towels. Very thin and felt like sandpaper. Again, unlike other Celebrity ships we have been on.

Port Reviews

Costa Maya

The port area was very nice and is building itself up nicely. We took taxi downtown (or what you might consider downtown) but it was a dump with people approaching you at every turn for a taxi back, or food or massages or what ever. Hated this area.
