This was our first Celebrity experience. We chose it because after many years cruising with P&O Cruises, we felt their standards were on the slide and we wanted a better experience. We had been told that Celebrity was "a cut above" P&O. Was it? Well, the jury is still out. The ship was beautiful, the crew were excellent, the food was definitely "a cut above" but on the other hand the price of drinks was eye-watering, the entertainment surprisingly poor - most of it being retail focused. I gave up going to interesting sounding talks and seminars because I realised I would be subjected to high pressure salesmanship at the end. Traditional shipboard games, such as shuffleboard, quoits, and deck tennis do not exist. Our cabin was small for the price paid (Aqua Class). This brings me to the aspect I most disliked. The ship operates on a three-class system - with separate dining areas for each, and public bars were often closed off to the lesser classes because of private functions. In Aqua Class we benefited from access to a lovely spa room and a relaxation lounge, not to mention jumping queues on embarkation and disembarkation, but on the whole I found the class system rather outdated and unnecessary. On other cruise lines, there is a demarkation based purely on price paid, but you do not usually find separate dining spaces. Would we go again? As I said, the jury is still out.

AquaClass 1

Cabin A1

Absolutely no storage space. Over-the-bed cupboard out of reach for average sized people. Balcony was a good size. TV system antiquated -reminded us of Teletext years ago!
