Our first time in the med and on the whole an excellent experience. Our first time on the Silhouette though we have cruised on the Eclipse before. Embarcation went very smoothly, picked up from home by taxi at 10.30, on board by 11.15, doesn't get any better than that! We looked around the ship had some lunch in the Ocean view cafe after which we were informed our cabins were ready what service. We had a midships cabin on deck 8, which was perfect, Our room steward Enrico was lovely and I would say the best room steward we have had on any cruise. Nothing was too much trouble.

Nice sail away from Southampton, on a low tide, I have never seen the sea so low over the Bramble Bank before. We had opted for Select dining in the MDR and had prebooked the time for first few days before leaving home. Not happy with the table selected for us on the first night and said so, we were moved to a lovely balcony side table for eight which we stayed on for most of the cruise, meeting some lovely fellow cruisers along the way. We got to know our waiting staff they were lovely, many thanks to Alston, Anastasia and Katrina, you helped make our holiday special. We did not dine in any of the speciality restaurants as we thought the food was top notch in the MDR.

The shows in the theatre were good in parts, awful comedian the first night, we hoped that was not the standard for the rest of the cruise, fortunately it was not, enjoyed the Barricade Boys, the shows put on by the ships troupe, a couple of good singers there, and the ships orchestra with big Mike. We thought the shows were a vast improvement on last year's cruise on the Eclipse. Also enjoyed the house band that played in various venues including the Sky Lounge, again a vast improvement on last year's house band. Read more
