This was my 11th cruise with Carnival. I pretty much know what to expect by now. It was myself & my husband traveling. The Sunshine did not disappoint. We did an 8 day Eastern Caribbean cruise and had a great time.

Embarkation

Port Canaveral was a breeze and by far one of the most organized ports. We drove and parked in the garage. We arrived about 45 min earlier than our arrival appointment and we were given a zone number(17) and told to have a seat until our number was called. We were on board within about 30 minutes.

See my comments in the review. Cabin on the Lido deck was awesome!

Port Reviews

St. Kitts (Port Zante)

We took a Taxi ($16 each way) to S Friars Bay beach (3 miles away) which they left us off at Carambola Beach Club. It was a resort type place with chairs, a bar and restaurant etc. It was a nice place. We paid $30.00 to rent two chairs and an umbrella. I believe it’s $3.00 pp if you use their facilities and don’t rent anything. (They take Credit cards.) The taxi driver sets up a time to pick you back up. He was there exactly when we asked him to be. Had two drinks ($24.00). We spent a little more than we planned but I like the facility and how nice and clean it was. Beach was beautiful as well. Walked around some shops in port and I felt they were overpriced. Shop keepers also hover over you. Big turn off for me.

San Juan

We decided to do our own walking tour of the Forts. It was fairly easy to navigate but in retrospect I wish we would have done one of the walking tour guides off the boat. There were many waiting at the Pier. Walked to El Morrow. Really neat and beautiful place. Wish we had more time to explore. We were only in port until 1:30pm. It was $7 pp for admission to both forts. Short walk over to Fort San Cristobal. We were hot and tired so we took a quick walk through there. Stopped at a local restaurant to have some monfongo and pina coladas. I really enjoyed this port and would like to go back. FYI There is a huge Walgreens right by the port if you need anything. And also I would suggest wearing sneakers not flip flops if you have them.

Grand Turk

This is one of my favorite ports. It’s so beautiful and the beach is right off the boat. Two boats were in port that day (us & Vista) and unfortunately it was very crowded which took away from the experience. After about 2pm it got better. We went to MargaritaVille for a few drinks ($100 later) then walked down to Jacks Shack which would have probably been a really cool place but it was super crowded. I got to take a picture with Topher the beach doodle, their mascot so that was really cool. It’s worth the walk down there just to see him. So cute! Hung out on the beach for a little while and took some amazing pictures.
