This is our 10th+ cruise with RC (we have cruised NCL and Carnival several times as well). RC is our favorite cruise line due to service, food, overall experience and drink options. Embarking and disembarking are a breeze in NJ. That particular port is within driving distance for us in PA, which makes it nice. We always opt to park at the port parking lot as it is so safe/convenient (the exception to this is NY because the price is crazy). This is our first time on this specific ship but we have sailed on Explorer of the Seas several times and enjoy the size/class of this ship. Here is a breakdown of our thoughts on Adventure of the Seas.

Drinks: The drink package with RC is the absolute best! We are big drinkers on vacation and have checked out drink packages on NCL and Carnival. There is no daily limit (# of drinks you can have before you are cut off), almost all drinks are covered in the package (menu is not geared to get a few bucks out of you each drink) and the bartenders cater to you regardless! Starbucks coffee and Johnny Rockets shakes are included in the package - it is truly inclusive and that makes this girl happy! We loved all of the bartenders - prompt and friendly service. The Champagne Bar was our favorite based on the staff there and the drink selections. They had specialty martinis and the best premium booze options too. Overall, we felt the drink menus lacked creativity but we managed!

Food: We purchased the 4 specialty dining package. We love specialty dining on all of the ships/cruise lines. We enjoy the service and food quality. You are receiving a $100+ meal for a fraction of the cost. We ate at the main dining room once, the sushi place (additional $) once and the buffet once for dinner. All were great! The tutti salad bar on at sea days are also a favorite. The hot buffet with the salad bar was great! I love Indian food and they always had chicken curry! Desserts need to be improved on RC but that has been the case for YEARS so just know that going in and you'll be fine. You don't have to save room for dessert...simple!
