My family and i had two concierge rooms on this 14 night baltic cruise. we chose this itinerary for the ports of call. Specifically St. petersburg during the world cup. as you can imagine, the cruise line charge a premium for this cruise as we were supposed to stay overnight during the world cup!
due to an "act of God", the captain insisted that it was too windy for us to dock in St. Petersburg. we sat in Russian waters for 2 days, then put the "peddle to the medal" all the way to Germany at 5 knots. Although i would like to Thank Celebrity for putting our safety as a priority, i felt like if the weather was so bad and an "act of God" then how did other ships dock? PO Brittania holds 4000 passengers... this is not a smaller ship and was able to dock.
I had the opportunity to ask the Captain why we didn't go anywhere else and his response was that it was an act of God and that we were on a tight schedule. TIGHT SCHEDULE?! we sat in the water for 3 days in a row... and the 4th day we were barely cruising to the next port.
