We chose this cruise based on the itinerary including the overnight in Dublin that allowed for more than one excursion at that port. The food was pretty decent overall with an impressive number of selections but did not begin to compare to the quality of food offered by the Oceania Cruise Line during our 12-day Western Mediterranean cruise in 2016. Had we not taken the Oceania cruise, our rating of the food would probably be higher but the bar had already been set! The Princess excursions were very good for the most part, albeit a bit pricey IMO; we booked ten (10) excursions through Princess. It was a relief to know that the ship would not sail without us in the event that we returned late from any given excursion since the trips were offered by the cruise line. This was important during this cruise since the ship sailed out of most of the ports around dinner time which seemed too early to me. The early departures erased any opportunity to explore the port cities if one had booked an excursion for that particular day which was disappointing. Our cabin steward was outstanding and the mattress/pillows/linens in our cabin were so good that I recorded the name of manufacturers for future reference once we got back home.
The mattress was extremely comfortable which was important due to the hectic itinerary; we were able to get quality sleep because of it as well as the great pillows and linen provided.
We traveled to Edinburgh from this port instead of waiting until we got to the South Queensferry port. It made for a longer day but we saw quite a bit of countryside on the way and back which was enjoyable.
"Best of Cork & Countryside" all-day tour was worthwhile. We stopped for lunch at a hotel and were served the best lamb stew I have ever eaten. Two local girls provided entertainment with dancing in addition to some singing by two men on stage. The visit at Blarney Castle was good but limited in time (recurring theme for these types of tours).
