After believing that Scenic was a 5 star river cruise company we were very disappointed with the trip. The dinner on the first night took 2 1/2 hours - every food order was misidentified, hot soups were cold, entrees were cold, ice cream had melted - the worst dinner in my life. We complained and the timing of service improved but the overall food quality was mediocre, the size of the entree portion was miniscule - 1 carrot, 1 small slice of potato and 1 or 2 oz of meat for example. if you just wanted an entree with no other courses you had to wait 1 1/2 hrs. Everybody had to eat dinner at the same time so everything was bogged down. We could only get cabins on the lower level when we booked and they were tiny and claustrophobic and very noisy when trying to sleep due to river water noise on the hull. We had asked twice before the cruise about docking details on Mannheim so we could meet with relatives. The information was wrong and we had to scramble to change plans with a lot of stress. However, the cruise director was terrific in resolving the situation despite the incompetence of Scenic head office. Overall we will never use Scenic again.
