We recently cruised to Bermuda on Escape. Although it’s not the largest vessel we’ve ever sailed on having been on RCCL’s Oasis it is a significantly big ship. We sailed from Manhattan as we had in the past. My only complaint regards the boarding slowness. We were scheduled to board at 12 and arrived at 11:45. We stood in line for nearly 2 hours to wind to NCL staff to process our boarding. This was easily the longest we have ever had to wait to board any cruiseship. There were numerous complaints in the line about the slowness. After boarding we headed straight to the Garden Cafe Buffet for lunch. The food was excellent it just took us awhile to find seating. Shortly after eating our stateroom was announced as available so we ventured down. We did notice that the stateroom hallways seemed a little more narrow. The room it self was fine. We had a balcony. The stateroom seemed a little narrow but quite comfortable. Surprisingly the bathroom was a little larger than others we have had. Being 6’3” it was nice to have a tall larger shower. Our steward was terrific and very responsive to our needs and desires. The ship personnel at all levels was friendly and helpful. We sailed 2 days to Bermuda. The first day was stormy and seas 8’. Though a little bumpy overall Escape seemed to sail smoothly. We partook of dining at the Manhattan Room the first 2 nights. Aside from good Caesar Salads and soup and dessert both of my entrees were overcooked and dry. We then had meals at the Garden Cafe Buffet. The food was excellent, meats tender and very flavorable. Our last 2 dinners were at Savor. Both dinners were good. Service at all the meals was exceptionally good. We attended several shows during the week as my wife enjoys them. I frequented the Cigar Lounge Humidor which was very small and all week filled with cigarette smokers. Our visit in Bermuda was a amazing. We partook of seeing Bermuda on our own using ferries and public transportation.NCL offers a free ferry to St. George Island moored right next to the Escape. This was very nice. Staff were very helpful giving us information and some ideas. Overall NCL’s Escape is a fine ship. We availed to debark carrying our own luggage. We were off the ship and in our car before 8AM. Well done NCL.
