My husband and I chose the Carnival Miracle, 2 weeks prior to its departure date of March 3. It was the 7 day western caribbean cruise to Grand Cayman, Roatan, Belize, and Cozumel.

Even though it was short notice, everything went really well. The only glitch was the Bubbles drink package. It had been purchased when we booked the cruise but it did not show up on our account. It took about 2 hours, along with several other guests who were missing it, to get it corrected. Carnival gave us two $9 drink vouchers for our troubles.

I have celiac and follow a gluten free diet. While there are many food options, there were only a couple of choices that were labeled gluten free. There was only one kind of bread and it was very, very bland. The pasta choices were available at the evening dining but its only substitution was gluten free spaghetti no matter what the dish. Dessert options were fruit, ice cream, and a delicious chocolate cake. I chose the cake 3 times because it was so good! It would have been nice to have seen more things labeled for guests with special dietary requirements or food allergies such as sugar free, dairy, nuts, or gluten.

Port Reviews

Roatan

We spent the day on the Mahogany Bay which is right at the port. Beautiful place to spend the day if you want to get off the ship but not go far. A few shops and some history about the island. A little spendy if you are hungry or thirsty but you could always make the 15 minute walk back to the ship to eat and drink for free.

Cozumel

Independently, we chose to take a taxi to San Miguel to explore. $8 was well worth it!. It was nice to walk at our own pace, choose a restaurant, and people watch. The museum was also well worth the $4 pp. It only had 4 rooms but is filled with displays and pictures. There are no hands-on displays for children so it may not hold their attention. Signs in English and Spanish, and one room had 5 languages on the exhibits; English, Spanish, German, French, and Italian. It was a great place to use the bathroom, too!
