This was my third Celebrity cruise and my ninth overall. I'll start with the positives. Beautiful ship that was easy to find your way around on. The cabin was nicely appointed and roomy enough with a veranda. Breakfast served at Opus had everything you might want and waiter service. Dinner in the same room was also fine except for the steak which was thin and very Sizzler-like. The solarium gave those who don't prefer to take sun all day a good choice to take a break. They also did a great job on the Super Bowl. It was shown in the auditorium on a large screen along with typical finger food for those who chose to eat dinner while watching the game. A former announcer for a pro NFL team also added color.
Now for things that need some work. Lunch was a notch or two below the Golden Corral! Same subpar Mexican, Indian and Italian food for 12 days! My wife loves Italian food but only had it the first day as she could not justify the calories for very, very average fare. There was no good NY style deli to be had any day. Ham and more ham-no turkey, corned beef or pastrami to be found anywhere! C'mon Celebrity, you sail out of Fort Lauderdale not Boise! We wound up eating several times at a small cafe that offered "healthy choices " like chicken, tuna and salmon salad scooped on a small plate! Enough about food. The grassy area was a waste of space except for the few bocce players on board. A wake up call did not happen on the morning of an excursion but we backed it up with my iPhone so no harm,no foul but poor execution! Entertainment was just average and the late night adult comedy was limited to only 2 nights! Not many activities happening at the pool either. On one of the days we left the ship for an excursion we returned only to find that they were cleaning up the lunch area which as I said earlier was no big deal but the only good thing offered which was the carving station was the first to go!
Lastly, gone were the folded animal towels, the carved block of ice at the pool, a crew talent show,a salute to the hard working staff and a presentation of delicious desserts that I've seen on other cruises and no sushi night unless you paid a la carte.
Fine
Excellent half day tour of the fort and walled city.
