We have taken the Grand Med/Transatlantic crossing 4 times before and enjoyed it so much decided to try again on the Royal. The ship is too big and the public rooms, i.e. theater, lounges are too small to accommodate the number of cruiser. It was almost impossible to see most of the after dinner shows, as it was standing room only. The ship needs to be refurbished. The older ships with Vista lounge, Explorers Lounge, Wheelhouse bar lounge, Club Fusion are so much better. Princess Live and Club 6 are an after thought... just to fill in the spaces.
The atrium was OK for music, but disappointed in the only line dancing classes being at 1pm... just when we are having lunch --- so much better in the 9 - 10 am timing.
Dining rooms were OK, but food was so repetitive it became boring. Horizon Court buffet much improved in its set up and food there was good.
Balcony very shallow/small. Balcony door stuck, had to have serviced. Carpet dirty. Bed sagging and In need of a mattress pad. Steward surly and resentful when asked to change pad. Bathroom OK, but sink "popped" and "gurgled" all the time. Ship too big and not enough staff.
We were surprised to see Kotor. A very clean and easy walking city. The sail in and out of the fjord was spectacular.
Again we have visited Corfu many times and enjoy taking the local bus into town for easy walking tour on our own.
First time in this port which was quite impressive.
Again, we have visited Toulon previously and enjoyed walking around town.
A beautiful city. Walking on our own.
We had taken the shuttle bus into town, but the driver dropped us off at the wrong bridge and we ended up in a ghetto/slum area. After walking for 45 minutes we decided we were not heading for the old town as expected, so turned back. All of the other passengers on this shuttle had the same experience. We got back to where the driver had told us we would be picked up and waited..... eventually another bus driver came and rescued us, took us to the proper pick up point, and we did manage to see some of the old town at a distance as we were driven back to the ship. Disappointing!!
We had already visited Gibralter on a sunny day, thank goodness, as it was very cloudy and dismal on this visit. We stayed around town instead of taking the cable car to the top of the mountain as it looked as if it would be wet and impossible to see the surrounds.
Cadiz is a lovely walking city. We dd the 5 mile circumferance and ended up in the Cathedral square where there was music entertainment, and good cafes.
Lanzarote is a port city so other than shopping, not much to see.
